In order to explain Juanes' artistic career, we must go back to the late 1980s, when a young Juan
Esteban, following his passion for song and rhythm, created a metal band at just 15 years old. It
doesn't take long for him to realize that what started out as a simple child's game is actually the
beginning of a brilliant professional future.

Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez was born in the 70s into a Colombian family where music was
lived with passion. His father and brothers taught him to play the guitar and while he was still a
child he was already very familiar with this artistic genre. For this reason, in his adolescence in the
city of Medellín, he decided to organize Ekhymosis, with which he would take his first professional
steps in the music markets.

Eight years of history and five published albums guarantee the quality of the proposals of
Ekhymosis and Juan Esteban as its guitarist and singer. All this time and the creative work done
gave the Colombian musician enough experience to decide to start his artistic path alone when the
band dissolved in 1995.
With his new life he also changes his name and becomes Juanes. In a short time he will end up
establishing himself as a Latin music star and will begin a spiral in which, over four years, he will
record three albums and become the most internationally prestigious Latin artist.
