b. create and execute the Basic Hand Movements and Positions in Cheer Dance
properly;
c. appreciate the importance of participating in cheer dance holistically.

Ma’am dance is the movement of the


body in a rhythmic way, ma’am.

Class, as the definition itself cheer dance is


an activity which gives encouragement and A performance or routine that
make the players motivated. It comes from motivate a team in a game, ma’am.

about cheering while dancing.

To cheer is to shout out words or phrases
that may help motivate and boost the
morale of a playing team and perform

other hand, is a physical activity where one
expresses emotions or gestures while
performing bodily movements

So, class cheer dance simply means


shouting a word while creating body
movements or simply dancing.

dance originated?

Did you know class that cheer dancing


didn’t start in the Philippines? And it
started as an all- male activity?

Cheerleading eventually started in


November 2, 1898 when the cheerleader by
the name of Johnny Campbell. In a football
tournament Campbell got so excited that he
jumped out in front of the crowd. Campbell
is undergraduate of the university of
Minnesota. He encouraged the crowd to
yell/chant to encourage their teams. Then,
the cheerleading invented.

the most spectacular events in one of the
biggest collegiate sports events in the
country, the (University Athletic
Association of the Philippines).

Now let’s have an activity to test your


knowledge and creativity

Activity: CHEER IT UP!

DIRECTION:
I will group you into three (3) groups. Each
group will be given 10 minutes to create a
basic cheer dance, after 10 minutes, the
group will perform the activity and they
will be graded in the given rubrics.

E. Generalization

To sum up everything, I have here a Pom


Poms containing some question/hand
movements and positions and all you need
to do is to pass it while I play the music
and when the music stops the one who
holds the Pom poms will take a piece of
paper inside and she/he will answer or do
what was written on the paper.
