CHAPTER 4

CHALLENGES

I was eager to begin my marketing and sales internship at Dr. Prem and Associates, a
renowned supplier of wellness and medical travel. I was curious to find out more about the
sector and how to promote its offerings to patients all across the world.

But I soon learned that working in this profession presented some particular difficulties.
Learning about the many medical procedures and treatments the hospital provided was one of
the major challenges. I had a lot to learn, and I wanted to be able to communicate it to
patients in a simple manner.

I spent the first few weeks of my internship shadowing doctors and nurses, observing
different procedures and treatments. I also read extensively about the different medical
conditions that the hospital treated. I quickly realized that the medical tourism and wellness
tourism industries are very complex and that there is a lot to learn.

Another challenge was becoming familiar with the many cultures and traditions of the
patients who visited Dr. Prem and Associates. I had to be able to communicate with the
patients efficiently, even though I didn't understand their language, as they came to the
hospital for medical and wellness tourism.

I learned how to use a translation app on my phone to communicate with patients who didn't
speak English. I also started to learn some basic phrases in the most common languages
