Final Speaking Interview (15%)

Week #13 – Day #1

The final speaking assessment will be an interview with your teacher. In this one-on-one
interview, you will demonstrate your ability to discuss the following academic topics:

1. Living in Canada
2. Working in Canada
3. Plans for the future (academic and career)

Format
Your teacher will post your interview time, which will be in your week 13, day 1 class of
Listening Speaking. In the interview, you will be randomly given questions for 1-2 topics from
the list and will be asked to respond. You will speak for about 4 minutes. Please be prepared to
speak about all of the topics. Reading your responses is not permitted during the interview and
will negatively affect your grade.
To prepare for the interview:

 review the related chapter articles and vocabulary

 review Lecture Language and Speaking Gambits
 brainstorm some examples or personal experiences that you can talk about
 use assignment feedback to focus on areas of suggested improvement
Evaluation
You will be evaluated on the following course outcomes:
1. ability to express opinions clearly without hesitation
2. ability to elaborate upon the topics and provide details to support ideas
3. ability to speak using correct grammar and sentence structure
4. ability to use appropriate speaking gambits and interact with interviewer
