Mount Fuji
Also known as Fujisan or Fujiyama, is the tallest
mountain in Japan and that it’s one of Japan's
"Three Holy Mountains" or Sanreizan.

Mount Fuji is a composite cone, or stratovolcano


and is still an active volcano.

Hōei eruption that started on December 16,
1707 and ended February 24, 1708
It’s said to have caused the worst ash-fall
disaster in Japanese history.

On March 5, 1966, BOAC Flight 911, a Boeing 707, broke up in flight and crashed near the
Mount Fuji Gotemba New fifth station, shortly after departure from Tokyo International
Airport. All 113 passengers and 11 crew members died in the disaster,

Mount Fuji is the single most popular tourist site in Japan, for both Japanese and foreign
tourists. More than 200,000 people climb to the summit every year, mostly during the
warmer summer months, yet some people still climb even on off seasons which is
dangerous. Many people start climbing at night, as it is better to experience sunrise from
the summit. Specifically the Goraiko, the special name of the sunrise from Mount fuji.

But the summit can be dangerous as Some people can fall victim to altitude sickness or
have a heart attack. Others are claimed by falls or falling rocks.
