SEMI-DETAILED DEMONSTRATION LESSON PLAN IN TLE-ICT

GRADE 10 (COMPUTER SYSTEM SERVICING)

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of the underlying concepts and
principles in configuring computer systems and networks.
Performance Standard: The learner independently demonstrates common competencies
in computer system servicing as prescribed by TESDA Training
Regulations.

Learning Competencies:
LO 2. Configure computer systems and networks
CODE: TLE_ICTCS10CC-IId-f-2, TLE_ICTCS10CC-IIg- 2

I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the period, students will be able to:

1. identify network devices and connectors of computer system;
2. create straight-through cables for configuring computer system and
networks; and
3. appreciate the importance of configuring the file and printer sharing to
computer system.

II. A. CONTENT
CONFIGURING COMPUTER SYSTEMS AND NETWORKS
1. Network devices and connectors of computer system

B. LEARNING RESOURCES
1. References:
a. Curriculum guide
b. Learner’s Module: Module 3 configuring computer system and networks
page 1-53
c. Additional materials for LR multimedia/presentation
2. Other Learning Resources
Internet, Google, Video clips, activity sheets
3. Skills: Identifying, creating, performing, describing, configuring

III. PROCEDURE/ LEARNING ACTIVITIES

A. Preliminary Activities
Routinely Activities
1. Prayer
2. Checking of attendance
3. Checking of the cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom
4. House rules:
 Be on the class 5 minutes before the time.
 Be on your proper seats based on the seat plan.
 Use polite language
 Put your bags under your table
 Keep phones in your pockets.
 Raise concerns about one another’s statements in a respectful manner.
 Observe safety rules and regulation in a work place all the time.
B. Reviewing previous lesson/ activating prior knowledge
Activity #1: The Hat Game
Teacher will draw the names from the hat game. As the teacher draws
the name, selected student will read the question presented using power point
and answer it. Student who answers correctly will be given 1 point for their
group. Same procedure will follow until all questions are read and answered.
1. What is Computer Network?
2. What are the5 main types of computer network?
3. What is Network Topology?
4. What are the3 main types of network topologies?

C. Establishing a purpose for a lesson/motivation

Activity #2: INTERACTIVE ACTIVITY
 Teacher will ask one student per group (using hat game) to identify the
pictures by clicking the correct answer through power point presentation.
Questions:
1. The pictures revealed are all about what?
2. Are these devices necessary for a computer system and network?

D. Developmental Activities
1. Preparatory (unlocking difficulties)
Activity #3
 The teacher groups the students, based on the hat game
 The teacher will present a power point presentation.
 Each group is provided with laboratory sheet to answer based on the task
given.
2. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1
Power point presentation: Network connecting devices and connectors
Guide questions:
 Knowing the different network connecting devices, how does this
device work? Or what these devices do to computer network?

3. Developing Mastery: Create straight-through cable (Rubric attached)

Activity #4: Create straight-through cable
 Each group will give be given materials. A group leader will assign
a member to create a straight-through cable. Other members will
check the color coding of a cable if it is properly followed.
 Laboratory sheets are provided to answer the given task.
 Rubric will be used to rate the group activity.

4. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2

 After creating the straight-though cable, each group will perform the
network connecting using the connecting devices.
 Rubric will be used to rate the group performance.

5. Finding practical application of concepts and skills in daily living

Activity #5: file and printer sharing
 After network connectivity, each group will configure the printer and
file sharing.
 Each group will be given a laboratory hand-out to be followed.
 Folder and files created by each group should be shared and visible to
computer server.
 Criteria will be given
6. Making abstraction and generalization

Connectivity devices do a remarkable job of handling your specific

Internet requests. So wherever you are and whatever computer you are using,
you can rely on networking hardware to bring the world to your fingertips.
IV. Evaluation learning (analyse/interpretation of their works)
(See attached criteria)

 Students will be given 5 minutes to finalize and submit their laboratory work
sheet.
 Students’ scores in the activities will serve as their formative test assessment in
performance standard.

V. Learning Agreement
 Prepare for the individual network connectivity, file and printer
sharing performance.
OPERATION SHEET 3.1
Accessing Printer in a Network

Materials, Equipments:
- Computer Units
- Hub
- Printer

1. Given the following materials and equipments, access one document file on
other computer in a network.

2. Print the file you open with the use of the network printer.

3. Make an Accomplishment Report on this operation.

CRITERIA RATING
 Computers are connected in the network. 30%

 All the peripherals are properly inspected. 20%

 Shared files are located and opened a document in 30%
the computer.
 Accessed file has been printed. 20%
Total: 100%

Writing an Accomplishment Report

Accomplishment Report is done when you have finished a certain job. This
