INTRODUCTION. This module will focus on health trends, issues and concerns that will help the student
understand how the government works in collaboration with various agencies, institutions and
organizations to manage these health trends, issues and concerns.

1. If you are to initiate and manage a health issue/concern, what would it be and why?

If given the opportunity, I would like to address the tobacco issue in our country. This is
because the Philippines has been called to be the strongest tobacco lobby in Asia and I believe
this title should be removed from our country. Our production of tobacco has helped our
economy but has severely damaged our health.

In our population, 17.3 million of 61.3 million adults smoke, this will eventually, lead to
cancer. The issue is so tricky because banning tobacco from our country would have our
economy plummet, but if we continue with this kind of behavior lung cancer would eventually
be very evident. I want to address the situation as soon as possible before it is too late.

2. Which of the health trends/issues do you believe should be given priority and immediate
attention by the government? Why?
Other than the current health issues in our country such as Covid19, our government
must also focus on the smoking situation of the Philippines. To restate my previous answer, I still
believe the tobacco situation in the Philippines is one of the most urgent issues we have today.
According to National Tobacco Administration, Tobacco has always been of great
importance to the economy of the Philippines. The Philippines exported 3,674,136 kg. of
unmanufactured tobacco in 1950 compared to the pre-war years' (1935-1949) annual average
of 16,919,169 kg. Tobacco has been found by some studies to have raised the income levels and
equalized income distribution in the communities growing it. Consequently, social and structural
changes occurred and became evident in these areas. These numbers are help our economy, but
eventually they will grow higher and higher until cancer becomes one of our leading causes of
mortality.

B. Enumerate the top 5 cybercrimes complaints in the Philippines. As a student, how can you help in
managing these top 5 cybercrime complaints in the country.
According to GMA, the top five cybercrime complaints received were online scams, online libel,
online threats, identity theft, and photo and video voyeurism. As a student who frequently uses gadgets
and is surrounded by technology, the most I can do is to spread awareness.
I believe most of the victims of cybercrime are elderly or those who are not very familiar with
technology. The internet is a scary place if you don’t know what you are doing. So I believe taking your
time to teach others about online privacy and safety is very important and very helpful.

were informed that the women’s sector particularly the mothers are not aware and involved in health
issues and concerns. You are tasked to come up with an information-campaign poster to raise
awareness of the women on health issues. The poster must be informative and interesting.
