BROCHURE
SOCIAL FUNCTION: used to advertise or provide information on a single subject. They are
mainly used for informing rather than direct selling.
LANGUAGE FEATURES:
A compelling copy.
An easy-to-read layout.
A simple yet eye-catching graphic design.
PAMPHLET
DEFINITION: a few sheets of paper folded together to form a thin magazine that contains
information or opinions about something.
LANGUAGE FEATURES: The parts of printed items that help the reader find and learn
information easily: print features, organizational aids, graphic aids, and pictures/illustrations.
LEAFLET
DEFINITION: a piece of paper, or several pieces of paper folded together, that gives information
or advertises something: They were handing out leaflets outside the supermarket about the
school board election.
SOCIAL FUNCTION: Businesses use Leaflets to advertise their products and services as part of
their marketing strategy. They're often also used to let people know about new stores, special
offers and events.

BANNER
DEFINITION: A banner may be a long piece of cloth or a flag on which there is a slogan, logo,
symbol, advertisement, or other type of message. People use them in marketing, demonstrations,
public events, and protests.
SOCIAL FUNCTION: A banner is a flag that signals something. They are connected by a pole
such as signal flags on a ship which gives conditions or status of the ship. Some banners are used
for advertising or naming of college or universities.
