LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 2

(March 13, 2024 W6 D3)

I. Objectives:
 To identify flat and curved surfaces in a 3-dimensional object.
 To develop an appreciation for the importance of recognizing different surfaces in 3D
objects.
 To demonstrate the ability to manipulate 3D objects to identify their surfaces accurately.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Identifying Flat and Curved Surfaces in 3-Dimensional Objects
 References: Math textbooks, online resources, geometric models
 Materials: 3D geometric models (such as cubes, spheres, cylinders), whiteboard, markers,
worksheets

A. Daily Routine:
1. Prayer
2. Greeting
3. Checking of Attendance

B. Priming:
1. Recall: Review previous lessons on 3D shapes and their properties, particularly the
characteristics of flat and curved surfaces.
2. Motivation: Show students real-life examples where knowledge of flat and curved
surfaces in 3D objects is important, such as architecture, design, and engineering.

C. Activity:
1. Introduction: Present different 3D objects to the class (e.g., cube, cylinder, cone, sphere).
2. Exploration: Allow students to manipulate these objects and identify their flat and curved
surfaces. Encourage them to discuss their observations with peers.
3. Guided Practice: Lead a discussion on the characteristics of flat and curved surfaces. Use
the whiteboard to illustrate examples and non-examples.
4. Hands-on Activity: Distribute worksheets containing various 3D shapes and ask students
to label the flat and curved surfaces for each shape.
5. Group Activity: Divide students into groups and provide each group with a set of
geometric models. Have them take turns identifying and explaining the flat and curved
surfaces to each other.
D. Analysis:
1. Monitor students' engagement and participation during the activity.
2. Circulate among groups to provide assistance and clarify concepts as needed.
3. Assess students' ability to correctly identify flat and curved surfaces through observation
and review of completed worksheets.

E. Abstraction:
1. Summarize key points about flat and curved surfaces in 3D objects based on the activity
and discussion.
2. Highlight the importance of understanding these concepts in various real-world
applications.

F. Application:
1. Extension Activity: Challenge students to create their 3D objects using paper or modeling
clay, and then identify the flat and curved surfaces.
2. Homework Assignment: Assign additional problems related to identifying surfaces in 3D
objects for reinforcement and practice.
