FINAL TERM GROUP PROJECT

Subject: Electrical Service Design Lab

Course Outcome (CO4) Description:
Use AUTOCAD design tools for prediction and modeling of complex engineering problems of electrical service design
considering the practice in the electrical and electronic engineering discipline (P1, P4, P5).
Session: Fall 2023-24
Total Marks: 20

Problem Statements:
The use of proper lighting in a workplace is important both for the workers and the manufacturer. Poor lighting at the workplace leads
to eye strain, fatigue, and accidents, and too much light causes safety and health issues like glare-related headaches and stress. But
both these scenarios lead to more errors hence more reworks, poor quality and low productivity.
An 8-storey, RMG industry in Gazipur is having electrical bulb layout system shown here in figure 1. This layout is for floor number
5 (9,512 square ft). Initially, there was an abundant amount of natural light. So, they consider less lux (5000 lux/meter square area) for
the floor. But right now, a new building has been made in front of the industry which will block the light. For this reason, the
respective engineers ask to redesign the lighting system with 10,000 lux/meter square area. Engineers need to select 32 watts LED
bulbs with 3000 lumens per bulb.
Think of yourself as an engineer in this post and try to solve this issue. In the project report, please include the information’s given
below:
1. Total luminaries’ calculation for that floor. [ select any UF and MF value which will be practical towards the calculation].
2. Modify and create a new electrical bulb layout design by using AUTOCAD and attach with your report.
3. List out the lighting layout design principles/concepts that you have encountered during the design following BNBC rules.
Also remember design must comply with the BNBC rules (Volume 3, section 4.5.2).
4. Describe the environment and sustainability of LED bulbs for this industry.
