Check List for Navigating under Restricted Visibility

1 Has the Master been notified? Visibility: __________ nautical miles □

2 Has the Chief Engineer or Duty Engineer been notified? □

3 Have the navigation lights been lit? □

4 Are two sets of radar on parallel operation and are they in good working order? □

5 Is ARPA in good working order? □

6 Is radar plotting being carried out? □

7 Is the speed a safe speed? □

8 Are fog signals being sounded? □

9 Is VHF (Ch.16 or specified channel) being listened to? □

10 Are the increase in lookouts and their stations appropriate? □

Increase in number of lookouts □
Stationing of radar duty □

11 Is a lookout being properly carried out? □

12 Is steering gear on parallel operation and has steering been changed over to
manual steering? □

13 Has entry been made in ship's log book? □

A laminated copy of the check list shall be used for the checks. Reference of
compliance with the check list shall be noted in Log Book
