SKILLS AND QUALITIES. WHETHER THESE SKILLS
ARE INNATE OR ACQUIRED, SUCCESS IN THE FIELD
REQUIRES SOCIAL WORKERS TO CONTINUALLY
DEVELOP THEM THROUGHOUT THEIR CAREER.

ACTIVE LISTENING: Social workers need to listen attentively
to their clients to understand their needs and concerns
EMPATHY: The ability to understand and share the feelings of
others is crucial for building rapport and providing effective
support. COMMUNICATION:communication is essential for
conveying information, explaining options, and facilitating
discussions. PROBLEM SOLVING: Social workers help clients
navigate challenges and develop strategies to overcome them
ASSESSMENT: They assess clients’ situations, needs, and risks
to develop appropriate intervention plans. Crisis Intervention:
Handling urgent situations and providing immediate support
during crises. CULTURAL COMPETENCE: Being sensitive to
cultural differences and adapting approaches to suit diverse
populations. CASE MANAGEMENT: Organizing and
coordinating services for clients to ensure comprehensive care

COMPASSION: A genuine concern for the well-being of
others is a fundamental trait for social workers. PATIENCE:
Working with individuals facing challenges often requires
patience and a willingness to support progress over time.
FLEXIBILITY: Social workers must adapt to different
situations and client needs while remaining open-minded

solutions to complex challenges helps clients achieve their goals.
