Context

The transition to secondary school can be a period of big change for young people. In this unit, students investigate the
transition to adolescents to consider current and future challenges and describe strategies to positively manage these
changes through both health and movement strategies. As students analyse factors that have shaped their values and
beliefs, they investigate the influence of significant life events on personal strengths and skills and the development of
their identities. Students will investigate the skills and resources required to positively manage the transition to
secondary school and describe strategies to support themselves and peers to enhance health and wellbeing.

Task

Students will take on the role of a headspace employee, an organisation that supports the mental health and wellbeing
of young people. You have received an email from a concerned teenager who is experiencing physical changes and is
seeking guidance and support.

Your task is to respond to this email in a thoughtful and empathetic manner, considering the factors that influence
adolescent identify, emotions and responses to change. You are required to access health information to describe
strategies that will assist the concerned teenager effectively manage the changes occurring during adolescence.
