Exercise 6 / week 7

1. Determine the internal forces and moments at point B. Neglect

the weight of the pipe. External forces and moments are:

𝑭𝟏 = {200𝒊 − 100𝒋 − 400𝒌} N, 𝑭𝟐 = {300𝒊 − 500𝒌} N.

2. Same problem as before, but now forces are:

𝑭𝟏 = {100𝒊 − 200𝒋 − 300𝒌} N, 𝑭𝟐 = {100𝒊 + 500𝒌} N.

3. Determine the internal forces and moments at point C. Neglect the

weight of the pipe. External forces and moments are:

𝑭𝟏 = {−24𝒊 − 10𝒌} N, 𝑭𝟐 = {−80𝒊} N and 𝑴 = {−30𝒌} Nm.

4. Express the internal shear and moment components acting in

the rod as a function of x, where −2 ≤ 𝑥 ≤ 0 m (and y = 4 m).

5. Express the internal shear and moment components acting in

the rod as a function of y, where 0 ≤ 𝑦 ≤ 4 m (and x = 0 m).
