1. Introduction.

a. BS Allied Health Sciences is a four-year degree program after F.Sc Pre


Medical / equivalent under auspices of NUMS, at AFPGMI. This course
comprises of 03 disciplines including BS Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT),
Medical Imaging Technology (MIT) & Cardiac Perfusion Technology (CPT).

b. In BS (MLT), students are trained for the basic Medical Laboratory


Techniques used in clinical chemistry, Heamatology, Blood bank, Microbiology
and Histopathology laboratories. This programme provides the advanced
knowledge of medical laboratory sciences facilitating the diagnostic services in
the hospitals. In BS (MIT), students are trained in the basic imaging techniques
of X-rays, USG, fluoroscopy, CT scan and MRI. This programme provides the
advanced knowledge of imaging facilitating the diagnostic services in the
hospitals. In BS (CPT), students are trained for Cardiac Perfusion Techniques
used in cardiac surgery. This programme enables the student to demonstrate
appropriate clinical vigilance and awareness before, during and after
cardiopulmonary bypass and other ancillary procedures.

2. Aim. To acquaint selected students with relevant information about the period
of their stay at the Institute.

3. Arrival. Course will commence with effect from 19 February 2023 (Monday).
Students will report to Training Branch, AFPGMI on Monday, 19 February 2023 at 0800
hrs in proper uniform. On arrival at AFPGMI, they will report to the student affairs
section training wing for further instructions.

4. Location. AFPGMI is situated off Tamiz Ud din Road (within CMH complex)
Rawalpindi.

6. Accommodation. No hostel facilities are available at the institute. Students


from stations outside Rawalpindi have to arrange their own boarding & lodging facility.

7. Documentation. Students should hand over following documents to the


student affairs section on their arrival:-

a. 3 x NUMS Admission Offer Letter Attested copies


b. 3 x Certificate of Domicile “
c. 3 x Matric Marks Sheet “
d. 3 x FSc Marks Sheet “
e. 3 x Student CNIC / B Form “
f. 3 x Father CNIC “
g. Undertaking on Drug and Tobacco Abuse (Sample attached as
Annex ‘A’)
h. Medical Fitness Certificate (Sample attached as Annex ‘B’)
i. Affidavit (Sample attached as Annex ‘C’)
j. 16 x Coloured Photographs in white background (in AFPGMI
uniform only), out of which:
(1) 08 x passport size.
(2) 04 x 1.1"x1.1" size.
(3) 04 x 1.87"x1.87" size.
l. All the documents must be submitted in a File Cover bearing the
students name.

8. Discipline. During the course, it is incumbent upon the students to display


good standard of discipline. Any misconduct / violation will be dealt as per rules &
regulations of the institute. Following guidelines must be adhered:-

a. Private Arms / Pets. Students are not allowed to bring any private arms /
pets.

b. Valuables. Students are advised not to bring costly and expensive items
with them. All personal possessions must be kept safely and they will be
responsible for security / safe custody of their possessions.

c. Mobile Phone. No student is allowed to bring mobile phone at the


campus.

d. Absence from Training. All students are responsible to inform their


Assistant OIC Course, if they are unable to attend their class /
demonstration / any other training event due to some emergency or
illness.

e. Rules & Regulations. Salient features of the rules & regulations of


the institute are as under:-

(1) All Students will attend classes in proper uniform.


(2) All male students will have decent haircut.
(3) College Security Cards will be displayed during college timings.
(4) Punctuality in classes and all college activities is mandatory.
(5) No student will be excused / exempted from any class / activity on
medical basis unless a medical report is submitted.
(6) Leave during the study period will only be granted under
EXCEPTIONAL circumstances.
(7) Failure to fulfill the discipline / academic standards at Armed Forces

Postgraduate Medical Institute / NUMS will make the students liable

to be expelled / withdrawn from the Institute.

9. Monitoring of Training. Training and discipline of the student shall be


monitored during the entire training period. Unsatisfactory progress in the course,
events of gross indiscipline or failure to abide by the norms may result in termination
from the course.

10. Notice Board. Students are expected to see the notice board in the Institute
to keep themselves abreast with the latest instructions and respond promptly to any
notice / circular / message / telephone message.

12. Books and Stationery. Students will arrange their own stationery and
textbooks. Reference books, journal and periodicals are available in the library.

13. COVID-19 Guidelines / SOPs (Or Safety Protocols). It is mandatory for all
students to abide by all COVID-19 guidelines / SOPs as under:-

a. Students must wear mask during their stay at the institute.


b. Entry will not be allowed without mask inside the institute premises.
c. Students are required to report to NUMS Affairs Office, AFPGMI in case of
development of any symptom and will be advised to stay at home.
d. Overcrowding in the classroom and campus will be avoided.

e. All students are required to ensure physical distance of at least 6 feet / 2
meters.
f. Students will avoid places and activities where potential overcrowding can
take place.
g. Student presenting with symptoms of disease to undergo SARS-COV-2
testing will disseminate the results to NUMS Affairs Office.
h. Anyone who commits a minor or inadvertent breach will be reminded of
the violation. Repeated violations will be dealt with appropriate disciplinary
action.

14. Undertaking on Drug and Tobacco Abuse. An undertaking must be signed by


the student and his / her parents / guardian regarding non-involvement of drug and
narcotics substance as per specimen attached as Annex ‘A’. HEC Policy on Drug and
Tobacco Abuse in Higher Education Institutions 2021 has also been attached with the
joining instructions. Please carefully read the subject policy before signing the
Undertaking attached as Annex ‘A’.

15. Medical Fitness Certificate. Medical fitness certificate from a registered medical
practitioner as per specimen attached as Annex ‘B’ must be submitted alongwith all
documents.

16. Affidavit. Affidavit of Rs 50/- on a notarized stamp paper duly signed the
student, parents / guardian and witnesses as per specimen attached as Annex ‘C’.
