CHAPTER 1: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The community service report shall have only a one-page executive summary. It shall
include a brief description of the Community and summary of all the activities done by
the student in CSP and five or more learning objectives and outcomes.

India is ranked under the world's five largest producers of over 80% of agricultural
produce items, including many cash crops such as coffee and cotton, in 2010. India is
one of the world's five largest producers of livestock and poultry meat, with one of the
fastest growth rates, as of 2011.India's population is growing faster than its ability to
produce rice and wheat. While other recent studies claim that India can easily feed its
growing population, plus produce wheat and rice for global exports, if it can reduce
food staple spoilage/wastage, improve its infrastructure and raise its farm productivity
like those achieved by other developing countries such as Brazil and China.
Organic farming in India is an agricultural method that intends to grow crops to
maintain the soil alive. This farming method increases the fertility of the soil without
creating any infliction like conventional farming techniques. Nowadays Organic
farming is falling behind especially in Andhra Pradesh. So, we have chosen organic
farming awareness as our Community service project.
We have visited Rameswaram village which is located at Pedapudi Mandal , Kakinada
533006. We have conducted a agriculture survey regarding organic farming in
Rameswaram village .We interacted with the local farmers to bring awareness about
organic farming.

Here are the core objectives of organic farming:

• The consistent and adequate production of healthy and nutritious food
• To develop crops in a manner that maintains their growth without interfering with
their inherent behavior and conditions.
• To lessen pollution, soil erosion, and soil degradation
• To provide optimal long-term fertilization through natural pesticides for the
biological actions of crops
• To preserve genetic and biological diversity between plants and animals
• To improve the management of recycling materials and rely on renewable sources in
industries
• To make organic products to defend crops from insects and plants

In the Indian context, there is a rich heritage of religious influences on
ethics and moral values. The ancient texts have emphasized the
importance of ethics and moral values in governance. In ancient India,
there are two broad sources of ethical exhortations in the Indian tradition
– Veda texts and epic texts (Ramayana and the Mahabharata). Both the
Ramayana and the Mahabharata contain We have learned the relationship
of ethics with other domains such as Law, Religion, and Page No: Value
systems in detail.

These concepts are very important from an exam point of view. Readers
are requested to understand the concept clearly with repeated reading.
Now we will figure who subject matter of ethics changes with its
interaction with the Human Interface. The two most important tenets of
Indian culture are human Values and Holism. Human values refer to
moral, spiritual, and ethical values while Holism means oneness or unity.
Indian culture is very rich and diverse and teaches us to be tolerant to
others. explicit instances elaborating on the right conduct for civil

CHAPTER 3: COMMUNITY SERVICE PART

Description of the Activities undertaken in the Community during the Community Service
Project. This part could end by reflecting on what kind of values, life skills, and technical
skills the student acquired.

Communication skills and soft skills are the activities undertaken in the
community during the Community Service Project. In 8th class we
conducted the activity on communication skills and they actively
participated in that activity. We asked them to give introduction about
themselves and so many members came forward to give their self-
introduction.
In 9th class also we conducted same activity but less participation in
that class. So, we decided to improve their writing skills and reading
skills. We asked them to read and write one paragraph from their
books.
In 10th class we conducted the activity on soft skills. We gave the full
information on soft skills. They raised many doubts and we clarified it.
We asked them to give some information on any topic. Due to stage-
fear they did not perform. So, we understood the problem and we gave
some tips to avoid that stage-fear. We gave some biological stuff or
instruments which is very useful to them.
The students acquired some skills from us that are critical thinking and
problem solving, writing skills, reading skills, active listening and
communication skills. These are the skills acquired from us. They
acquired values also such as Kindness, Honesty, Equality, etc. these
values can guide them to the right path in the life.

Page No:
We have also interacted with students to bring awareness about
choosing a right career after 10th.
A career plays a crucial role in everyone’s life. From childhood, we are
instructed to study hard and score good grades. We are told to work hard
to make a better career. A good career leads to a good life. A career is
important to attain success in life. From personal to professional life
everything is affected by a career. A good career develops your
personality and quality of living.

Society also respects people who have a good career. Your lifestyle and
future also depend on your career. A career affects your entire life and
hence it is considered important to choose your career wisely. Many
students aim to become a doctor, engineers, teachers, etc in the future. To
attain this profession first we need to study hard.

Choosing your career is a very critical decision. There are many factors
that affect the decision of choosing a career. The first thing that we should
consider is our area of interest. Students should make their careers in the
field they are interested. Our interest makes us more perfect in our job.
Another thing is the future prospect, students should also take care of
future opportunities. The field you are opting for must have a good future
scope so that later it gives you fruitful results. Everything in the world is
continuously changing. So keeping this in mind is very important when
choosing your career.

We have to take many decisions in life but the most critical decision is to
choose a perfect career. The option to choose a career comes only once in
life. Therefore, we should start thinking about our career way before so
that we do not make any mistake. We can also take help from parents,
elders, teachers, and relatives. Today, we have the internet, the solution to
all the problems. Students should collect proper knowledge and choose a
career that suits their interests and future.

Describe the problems you have identified in the community

Unavailability of good Quality of Seeds:

Seeds are the basic input or raw material for the farmers to grow crops. But there is a lack of
availability of the good quality of seeds in the market. And if the good quality seeds are
available, they are so expensive that the poor and marginal farmers are not able to afford.

Lack of Modern Equipment:

Even in 2020, the majority of Indian farmers use traditional tools for agriculture such as
plough, sickle, etc. This leads to the wastage of energy and manpower and less yield per
capita labour force.

Poor Irrigation facilities:

Irrigation is one of the essential steps for a crop to grow perfectly. But do you know that only
one-third area of the total land in India has proper irrigation facility available? The reason
for good irrigation facilities is the availability of water throughout the year from the rivers
and dam. This helps the farmers to conduct agricultural operations timely.

Small and Fragmented Holdings of land:

This is one of the major reason why Indian farmers are not competent. Because, most of the
poor farmers have a very small amount of land and that too in a fragmented manner. The
main reason for this kind of system is the inheritance law of India. And due to this, most of
the farmers in India have fragmented lands.

Dealing with local traders and middleman:

It is a problem a farmer faces at the end of all agricultural activity. This is why we have also
mentioned it in the end. But don’t judge the importance of this problem by its position. In
this situation, they have to look for a middleman and local traders for business. These
middlemen don’t provide a reasonable price for their crops, and hence farmers are bound to
either sell crops at a lower price or just throw at the roads.

Lack of Storage facilities:

In the absence of market place, the local traders dominate the market and exploitation of
farmers takes place. These middlemen are not only creating a problem for farmers but also
for consumers because they ultimately sell the crops at a very high price after purchasing it
from farmers.

Going through these entire problems, how can we expect from our farmers to produce good
crops. Instead, we should ask our government to provide the facilities that they deserve.

Page No:
Short-term and long-term action plan for possible solutions for the
problems identified and that could be recommended to the concerned
authorities for implementation.

Short-term action plans:

1.Educate the farmers about organic farming and new methods of cultivation.

2.Ask the farmers to make a habit of watching agriculture programme on tv.

3.We will try to take soil test on the agricultural lands.

4.Educate them how to use online website for the latest information regarding cultivating
crops and weather.

Long -term action plans:

1.We will continue to educate farmers about organic farming and new methods of
cultivation.

2.We will make sure that every farmer is watching agriculture programmes on tv.

3.Based on soil test report we will share the information about the crops that can be
cultivated on that field and about the crops that would gain them more profit.

4.We will continue to educate them how to use online website for the latest information
regarding cultivating crops and weather.

Short-term and long-term action plan that could be recommended to be concerned

authorities for implementation.

1.Create awareness about the latest crop cultivation methods .

2.Make sure that every farmer gets the benefits from the government that a farmer
could get.

3.The government should help farmers by providing necessary support to practice

new methods of cultivations and the tools required for it.

4.Provision of straightforward farming loans from the banks at a low rate of interest.

5.Insurance of their cultivation.

6.Provision of supported fertilizers, pesticides, and HYV seeds.

Description of the Community awareness Programme /s conducted w.r.t the
problems and their outcomes.

We have conducted an awareness program regarding career guidance in Zilla Parishad

school in Rameswaram village. We have interacted with students studying in 8th,9th and 10th
class to bring awareness about choosing right career after completing 10th.
1. How can I build on my strengths?
The steps required to build one own’s strengths :
 Identify your strengths, name them, and concentrate on them.
 Don’t compare yourself with others, but approach people who inspire or even challenge you
for your growth.
 Offset your development areas by capitalizing on the strengths of others.
2. How can I optimize my time while learning?
Things that we need to follow to optimize our time while learning are :
 Make Use of a Daily Schedule Template to Plan Your Day.
 Understand How You Are Currently Spending Your Time (and Where You Are Losing It).
 Set Proper Goals to Measure Your Progress.
 Pay Attention to Your Body’s Natural Energy Highs and Lows.
3. Where can I find more information about my intended career?
We can find our related information about our intended career through websites using
internet and also by discussing with people who are pursing same career and teachers who
have knowledge in our intended career.
4.Which entrance/competitive exams should you start preparing for?
 Set a preparation strategy.
 Sort out a study plan.
 Go through the detailed syllabus and check the exam pattern.
 Devote time for self-study.
 Analyse previous year question papers.
5.What subjects should you focus on to get into a stream of your choice in college?
Generally we need to choose subjects that are related to the chosen career so that it helps us
to improve our chances to succeed in the career chosen as well as helps us to get command
over the knowledge of career we are going to pursue.
