A 76-year-old female experienced a stroke likely due to predisposing factors of family history of stroke and hypertension as well as the precipitating factor of existing hypertension. A clot formed on the left side of the heart, traveled to the brain, and blocked a cerebral vessel, cutting off blood supply to brain tissue and causing loss of function in the affected area, resulting in a stroke.
