ECPC - 306

TUTORIAL - 2

Dr. Ramesh K. Sunkaria

B.TECH. ECE (6th SEMESTER)

Questions:

1. Discuss the properties of convolution.

2. What are recursive and non-recursive filters? Explain with example.
3. Discuss the properties of auto - correlation and cross – correlation.
4. Determine the cross correlation of the sequences:
x (n) = {….,0,0,2,-1,3,7,1,2,-3,0,0,……}

y (n) = {…..,0,0,1,-1,2,-2,4,1,-2,5,0,0,…..}

5. Compute the convolution of the following signals:

a) x (n) = {1,2,4}, h (n) ={1,1,1,1,1}
b) x (n) = {1,2,-1}, h (n) = x (n)
c) x (n) = {1,2,3,4,5}, h (n) = {1}
d) x (n) = {1,-2,3}, h (n) = {0,0,1,1,1,1}

e) x (n) = {0,1,4,-3}, h (n) = {1,0,-1,-1}

f) x (n) = {1,1,2}, h(n) = u(n)

f) x (n) = {1,1,0,1,1}, h (n) = {1,-2,-3,4}

6. A discrete time system is realized by the structure shown below:
a) Determine the impulse response
b) Determine the realization of its inverse system, that is, the system which
produces x (n) as an output when y (n) is used as an input.

7. Consider the system given in figure with h (n) = an u (n), -1 < a < 1.
Determine the response y (n) of the system to the excitation
x (n) = u (n+5) – u (n-10)
