PHYSICAL FITNESS REFERS TO THE BODY’S ABILITY TO:

 PERFORM DAILY ACTIVITIES EFFECIENTLY WITHOUT GETTING TIRED EASILY


 REDUCE THE RISK OF ACQUIRING ILLNESSES OR DESEASES
 HAVE EXTRA ENERGY IN CASE OF PROLONGED ACTIVITIES OR EMERGENCY.

PHYSICAL FITNESS HAS SEVERAL COMPONENTS. THESE COMPENENTS ARE DIVIDED INTO
TWO GENERAL CATEGORIES:
 HEALTH-RELATED COMPONENTS
 SKILL- RELATED COMPONENTS

HEALTH- RELATED COMPONENTS


 THE HEALTH-RELATED COMPONENTS FOCUS ON THE GENERAL HEALTH AND WHOLE BODY. THIS INCLUDES CARDIORESPIRATORY
ENDURANCE, MUSCULAR STRENGHT, MUSCULAR ENDURANCE, FLEXIBILITY, AND BODY COMPOSITION.

1. CADIORESPIRATORY ENDURANCE
 THE ABILITY OF THE HEART, BLOOD VESSELS, AND RESPIRATORY SYSTEM TO DELIVER OXYGEN TO ACTIVATE MUSCLES EFFECIENTLY
FOR AN EXTENDED TIME.

2. MUSCULAR STRENGTH
 THE ABILITY OF THE MUSCLES TO EXERT EFFORT

3. MUSCULAR ENDURANCE
 THE ABILITY OF THE MUSCLES TO EXERT FORCE OVER AN EXTENDED PERIOD
4. FLEXIBILITY
 THE ABILITY OF THE JOINTS TO PERFORM THROUGH A WIDE RANGE OF MOVEMENTS

SKILL RELATED COMPONENTS


 THE SKILL RELATED COMPONENTS REFER TO ATHELETIC ABILITY. IT FOCUSES ON IMPROVING ONE’S PERFORMANCE IN SPECIFIC
ACTIVITIES SUCH AS SPORT OR DANCE. THIS INCLUDES AGILITY, BALANCE, COORDINATION, POWER, REACTION TIME, AND SPEED.

AGILITY
 THE BODY’S ABILITY TO CHANGE DIRECTION OR POSITION RAPIDLY AND ACCURATELY WHILE MOVING IN SPACE.

BALANCE
 THE ABILITY OF THE BODY TO MAINTAIN A STABLE POSITION WHILE IN A STATIONARY POSITION OR WHILE MOVING.

COORDINATION
 THE ABILITY TO USE DIFFERENT PARTS IN PERFORMING MORE THAN ONE MOTOR MOVEMENT AT A TIME.

POWER
 THE ABILITY TO EXERT MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF FORCE IN THE SHORTEST POSSIBLE TIME.

REACTION TIME
 THE AMOUNT OF TIME IT TAKES FOR THE BODY TO RESPOND.

SPEED
 THE ABILITY TO PERFORM AN ACTION AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.
