LAPTOP

A laptop, laptop computer, or notebook computer is a small,

portable personal computer (PC) with a screen and alphanumeric keyboard.
Laptops are folded shut for transportation, and thus are suitable for mobile
use. Its name comes from lap, as it was deemed practical to be placed on a
person's lap when being used.
Laptops typically have a clamshell form factor with a flat panel screen
(usually 11–17 in or 280–430 mm in diagonal size) on the inside of the upper
lid and an alphanumeric keyboard and pointing device (such as a trackpad
and/or trackpoint) on the inside of the lower lid.
Laptops are used in a variety of settings, such as at work, in education,
for playing games, web browsing, for personal multimedia, and general home
computer use. Today, most laptop computers are becoming thinner and lighter
to help compete with other devices, such as tablets. Some laptops, especially
those with smaller form factors, may also be called notebook computers.

 The IBM 5100 is the first portable computer,
which was released in September 1975. The computer
weighed 55-pounds (25 kg) and had a five-inch CRT
display, tape drive, 1.9 MHz PALM processor, and 64
KB of RAM.

The first truly portable computer or laptop is

the Osborne I, which was released in April 1981
and developed by Adam Osborne. The Osborne I
weighed 24.5-pounds (11,1 kg), had a 5-inch
display, 64 KB of memory, two 5 1/4" floppy
drives, ran the CP/M 2.2 operating system,

The main parts of laptop are screen (e.g., LCD), keyboard, touchpad and
ports on the left side and right side, camera, and power button. Besides those
main parts, there are many other important parts of a laptop that are not
shown in the picture above such as AC adapter, an external power supply used
with devices that run on batteries or have no other power source, battery,
motherboard that allocates power and allows communication to and between
the CPU, RAM, and all other computer hardware components. Then, there is a
storage device e.g., Hard Disk Drive (HDD), Solid-State Drive (SSD), M.2. The
next part is a fan that keeps the overall computer, or a computer device cool
by circulating air to or from the computer or component. Further parts of
laptop are speakers, microphone, memory, disc drive, and wireless adapter
which allows a computer to connect to a router for Internet access.
Furthermore, the ports on the laptop include AC adapter or power
adapter port, HDMI port, USB ports, headset port, and SD card reader. The
ports available on a laptop depend on its age and manufacturer. If you need a
port not available on your laptop, use a converter that changes one signal to
another. For example, if you need a VGA connection, use an HDMI to VGA
converter.
