Before we start our new lesson, who among


you here can recall our previous topic? It’s about the origin of the philippines ma’am
the pre-colonial period.
Now, what have you learned about the pre-
colonial period? We have learned about the different
practices, knowledge and traditions before
the arrival of colonial powers.
Very good! I’m glad that you still remember our
previous discussion.

C. Motivation

Class, before we dive into our new topic let’s


first have an activity!
Now, who among you here loves writing
poems?
Me, ma’am!
How about reading novels? Inspirational story
or love story? Me, ma’am!
Who likes listening and singing loves song?
Me, ma’am!

Now, let’s find out what literary types do you


like.
I have here some pictures and all you have to
do is guess it by using picture clues and word
clues.

in real life or imaginary. What is it?
It’s a narrative, ma’am! Because when we
narrate we tell the truth and we act within the

Next, a long narrative divided into chapters. It’s a novel, ma’am! Because It’s an
extended and detailed exploration compared
to shorter forms of fiction.

A lyric poem of 14 lines dealing with an


emotion, a feeling of an idea. William
Shakespearewas known because of this
literary type. What is it?

It’s a sonnet, ma’am! Because sonnet is a


poetic form that has 14 lines, usually written
in iambic pentameter.

non-fiction writing that focused more on
argument or perspective on a specific topic.

F. Abstract
Two Major Forms of Literature
1. Poetry- this literary type is usually written in
lines and is characterize by having the element
of rhythm, sound, imagery, and form.
a. Narrative Poetry - this poetry tells a story
and has elements of a narrative such as
characters, setting, conflict, etc.
b. Dramatic Poetry - this is an emotionally
appealing drama written in verse that tells a
story and is intended to be recited or sung in
front of the audience by a character speaking
in poetry.
c. Lyric Poetry - it is the most common type of
poetry that focuses on expressing feelings
rather than telling the story.
2. Prose - this literary piece applies a natural
flow od speech and grammatical logically and
sequentially in a paragraph form.
a. Fiction- this serves as a product of the
writer’s wild imagination and creative thinking
where the characters react to the conflict and
various issues central to the main idea of a
literary work.
b. Non-fiction- these are stories inspired by
real events where the writers aim to present,
interpret, or describe experiences based on
facts.

G. Application

Let’s have another activity!


Direction: I will divide you into 3 groups and
all you have to do is to choose a literary genre
and give your own understanding using a
concept map.
I will give you 5 mins to finish your output and
1-2 mins for your presentation.
In your own opinion, how does expressing
appreciation for the value of critiquing a literary
piece contribute to the overall growth and Appreciating the value of critiquing literature
understanding of literature? enhances our understanding.When we give
constructive feedback, it helps us analyze
better and see different views, making us
appreciate the depth of stories even more.
