IV EP – 10 & 24
Introduction ………………..
The topic of my presentation is fire and electrical safety.
I’d like to inform you about the importance of fire and electrical safety.
Understanding Fire:
The fire triangle is necessary three elements that are heat, fuel, oxygen. These elements exist
in the form of triangle.
Common causes of fires include electrical fault, cooking accidents, smoking, and other
factors.
Faulty wiring and overload circuits; etc. can lead to electrical fires.
Cooking accidents: Unattended cooking and flammable materials near stoves can cause
kitchen fires.
Smoking: Discarded cigarettes and matches and smoking materials can cause fire.
Fire can extinguish fire classes. They are Class A, B, C, D and K.
Electrical Safety:
The electrical safety is very important in homes, workplace, and public spaces.
Electrical safety measures the lifespan of the electrical appliances and equipment by
preventing damage from electrical faults.
In workplace, electrical safety standard reduces the occurrence of accidents.
In public spaces such as schools, hospitals and other public areas ensure electrical safety
protects the well-being of individuals.
There are some tips for preventing electrical fires and accidents.
Some of these tips are proper installations avoid overloading circuits, using correct wattage
electrical materials, unplugs and unused appliances, replacing damaged cables and educating
family members.
Fire Prevention Measures:
Fire prevention measures are essential for reducing the risk of fires.
Installing smoke detector and fire alarms is a crucial step in fire presentation and safety.
We must do these actions that are choosing the right locations, using interconnected alarms,
testing regularly, replacing batteries, and replacing old detectors.
Fire Extinguishers:
Fire extinguishers are essential safety devices designed to put out small fires or contain them
until the fire department arrives. They typically come in various types, each suitable for
different types of fires, such as Class A (ordinary combustibles like wood or paper), Class B
(flammable liquids like oil or gasoline), Class C (electrical fires), Class D (combustible
metals), and Class K (cooking oils and fats). It's crucial to choose the right type of
extinguisher and to know how to use it properly in case of a fire emergency. Regular
maintenance and inspection of fire extinguishers are also important to ensure they are in
proper working condition.
The use of a fire extinguisher is to suppress or extinguish small fires before they escalate into
larger, more dangerous fires. Fire extinguishers contain various extinguishing agents
designed to target different types of fires, such as water, foam, dry chemical powder, carbon
dioxide (CO2), or specialized agents for specific types of fires like Class K fires involving
cooking oils and fats.
By following proper usage techniques, individuals can effectively control or extinguish small
fires, preventing them from spreading and causing significant damage or harm. Fire
extinguishers are crucial safety devices in homes, workplaces, and public spaces, providing
immediate response capabilities in the event of a fire emergency.
Fire safety procedures:
Store chemicals properly and follow handing instructions.
Turns off electrical appliances when not in use.
Never use damaged cables.
Electrical safety procedures:
Regularly inspect electrical cords for damage.
Avoid using electrical appliances near water sources.
Keep electrical panels accessible.
Label circuit breakers clearly for easy identifications during emergencies.
Case Studies:
There are many causes of fire and electrical. For example, a massive fire at the Mingalar
Market in Yangon has caused more than 36.6 million kyats in damages, affecting 1,636 shops
injuring firefighters.
The township police station said the electrical fire was sparked as men at a shop on the fourth
floor of the marked complex were welding a roller door at about 11pm on Friday.
Conclusion:
That's everything I wanted to say about how to prevent fire causes and safety from using
electrical appliance. In our opinion we should know education safety and must follow the
rules of fire and electrical.
Thanks to everyone for attending our presentation.
