CHAPTER 3

III. METHODOLOGY

Introduction

This chapter presents the research methodology which includes the research design used
in conducting the study. It also includes the sources of data, locale of the study,
population/sampling, and the instrumentation and ethical consideration.

Research Design

This study used the descriptive quantitative research design. Quantitative research
design was used to collect and gather information about the impact of gadgets in learning.
Quantitative research design was used to describe and to test relationships between
objects. It was also presented in numerical form, and analyzed through the use of
statistics. It focused on gathering numerical data and generalizing it across groups of
people or to explain a particular phenomenon. This research design was used by giving
questionnaires to the respondents of this study. The purpose of this study was to explore
the association between Gadget use and the well-being of children and adolescents in a
local school district. This was an explanatory research topic because it evaluates the
amount of device usage and content exposure and various demographic factors, as well as
sleep patterns, academic progression, physical health, mental health, and social support
and attachments.

Research Locale

The locale of the study was taken from i-Tech Computer Education Bago City Inc.
Senior High School
Respondents

The respondents of the study was derived from selected students of i-Tech Computer
Education Senior High School. Students from Abm, Humss, Cp, and Gas which led us to
survey 130 students on i-Tech Senior High School.

Research Instruments

The instrument used in gathering the data was a survey questionnaire. The
questionnaire was prepared by the researchers of I-tech senior high school. Quantitative
research questionnaire was used to gather the data and information about the effects of
gadgets in 21st century learners.

Data Gathering

All of the data pertaining to the topic of the study is all conducted and made by the
researchers. The primary data is the survey's questionnaire that is filled up by students
derived as profile respondents of i-Tech Computer
Education Bago City Inc. SHS that consists of their Age, Gender, Grade&Section, and
their gadgets used. The secondary data is about the effects of overusing gadgets or
influence of gadgets in terms of (i)Health Issues and (ii)Academic Performances. The i-
Tech senior high school Principal provided consent to allow i-tech student researchers to
conduct this study.

Statistical Tool
Demographic profile (age, civil status, religion, educational attainment, occupation,
gender) Grade level and Strands Frequency, percentage and mean
Total population of grade 11 and grade 12 by measuring and getting their frequency,
percentage and mean.

Formula; P=F/N
Frequency, Weighted Mean, and Percentage
Weighted Mean, This tool was used to provide answer to the questions the formula is
WM=TF/N

Ethical Consideration

The researchers will first get the respondents' approval before conducting the survey.
Researchers will explain the purpose of the study and the data collection method to
respondents via oral and written paper; respondents' personal information will be kept
confidential and will not be made public; and the researchers will not force them to fill
out the questionnaire under duress. Furthermore, researchers will clarify that their
involvement was entirely optional, and that their care or capacity to perform their
obligations was unaffected by their decision not to participate or to leave the study at any
stage throughout its execution. In addition, once the researchers have gathered the
information from the respondents, they will automatically begin the process of erasing
data from tapes, hard drives, and other electronic devices in such a way that it is
completely unreadable and cannot be accessed or used in any way.
