PROJECT PLAN

1.1 INTRODUCTION
An inverter is a motor control that adjusts the speed of an AC induction
motor. It does this by varying the frequency of the AC power to the motor.
An inverter also adjusts the voltage to the motor.

This process takes place by using some intricate electronic circuitry

that controls six separate power devices. They switch on and off to produce a
simulated AC voltage. This switching process is also called inverting DC bus
voltage and current into the AC waveforms that are applied to the motor. This
led to the name “inverter”. For the rest of this discussion, the term “inverter”
will be used in place of adjustable speed drive An inverter is a motor control
that adjusts the speed of an AC induction motor. It does this by varying the
frequency of the AC power to the motor. An inverter also adjusts the voltage
to the motor. This process takes place by using some intricate electronic
circuitry that controls six separate power devices.

Most inverters are of the variable voltage, variable frequency design.

They consist of a converter section, a bus capacitor section and an inverting
section. The converter section uses semiconductor devices to rectify (convert)
the incoming fixed voltage, fixed frequency AC power to DC voltage which
is stored in the bus capacitor bank. There it becomes a steady source of
current for the power devices which are located in what is known as the
inverting section. The inverting section absorbs power from the DC bus cap
bank, inverts it back to simulated AC sinewaves of varying voltage and
varying frequency that are typically used to vary the speed of a 3-phase
induction motor.

1. IDEA GENERATION
This conversion may be accomplished by electromechanical means
namely motor, Generator sets are entirely by electronics means. Any
Individual having an interest in the electrical and electronics product
manufacturing sector can initiate an inverter manufacturing business. This
manufacturing operation doesn’t demand a lot of space. The assembling
process is also simple. Inverters find applications where emergency standby
power is required and/or there is no AC power available. The inverter is
generally used with various sophisticated electronic and mechanical
equipment that requires a continuous and un-fluctuating power supply for
effective functioning.

1.3 OPPORTUNITIES
The focus will be on direct sales to customers and retailers in
Tirunelveli district as there is good demand. Further focus will be on nearby
four districts for bulk sales through wholesalers and retailers.

1.4 BASIS & PRESUMPTIONS

 The basis for calculation of production capacity is on single shift basis,

working of 25 days per month on 65% efficiency.
 Rental charges of Rs. 15/- per sq. mtr. Per month has been taken on an
average.
 Rate of interest has been taken as 12% on an average for investment
capital.
 Labour wages have been taken on the basis of minimum per month

1.5 IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE

It is estimated that from conception of the project to commercial
production it may take about three months including purchase of machines,
installation, staff recruitment, all clearance.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

3.1 PRODUCT PROFILE

The inverter is a device that converts DC electricity (battery, storage
battery) into AC power with a fixed frequency and voltage or with frequency
modulation and voltage management (usually 220V, 50Hz sine wave). It is
made up of semiconductor power devices as well as drive and control
circuits for inverters, The creation of new high-power semiconductor devices
and drive control circuits has been aided by the advancement of
microelectronic and power electronics technologies.

Insulating gates are now often used in inverters, Polar transistors,

power field-effect transistors, MOS controller thyristors, and intelligent
power modules are examples of advanced and easy-to-control high-power
technologies. The control circuit has also evolved from an analog integrated
circuit to being controlled by a single-chip microprocessor or a digital signal
processor, allowing the inverter to progress in the direction of
systematization, full control, energy efficiency, and multi-function. Air
conditioners, home theaters, electric grinding wheels, electric tools, sewing
machines, DVDs, VCDs, laptops, TVs, washing machines, range hoods,
refrigerators, video recorders, massagers, fans, lighting, and other electronic
devices use it.

The input circuit, main power transformer circuit, output circuit,

auxiliary circuit, control circuit, and protection circuit make up the inverter
structure.

3.5 PRODUCTION CAPACITY PLAN

The present target of Siva electrical works is around 5 per day.A
technologically advanced unit right from its inception, the industries state of
the art equipment ensures optimum production efficiency and profitability.
3.6 PROCESS OF PRODUCTION
First of all, you must have special transformers for such a product. You
have to procure that from outside as per the specifications. Test the critical
components, which go to make up the products. Because you have to ensure
that they meet the required specifications.

11
The components are fixed and soldered on a printed circuit board
(PCB) according to the design. Additionally, assemble the controls and
sockets individually. Then mount the PCB transformers etc. on the chassis
and make all the interconnections.

The waveforms at various checkpoints, output voltage, and power are

checked adjustments are made so that the products meet the desired
performance specifications.

Upon completion of testing the instrument is kept for soaking the

specific time period to ensure its quality and reliability.
