ACTIVITY 1
The Places I’ve Been to and Places I Hope to See

The Places I’ve Been to

Pinto Art Museum

(Antipolo)

This was a very recent trip, I always wanted to visit the Pinto Art Museum since I'm a big fan of
its ambiance and aesthetic. I think it targets usually a demographic that is closer to my age,
millennials to the younger generation. Speaking of generations, today’s generation is in an era
of social media, in particular, Instagram. Due to this, we label places as Instagrammable, which
means places or a certain view that is aesthetically pleasing and worthy of a photograph. I think
that is the most amusing feature of this place and also why it attracts so much attention from
visitors, every inch, and every corner of the museum is Instagram-worthy. Even when I went
there most of the people were young, college students, young adults who love taking photos.
Since it’s a museum it’s given that it will also showcase some amazing art, art installations, and
paintings from modern artists that I had so much fun exploring and taking photos of, I mean
that’s the purpose of traveling and touring right, to create and make memories and make them
permanent through photographs.

Cagsawa Ruins
(Albay, Bicol)

This one is very old, it was a school trip during my junior year, I was in 6 th grade, Field trips were
always the highlight during those years, we made a lot of stops, and we visited a church I
couldn’t remember it anymore, we visited the Coke Factory, we had lunch on a Zoo, we went to
a cave as well and of course the one that struck me the most is the Cagsawa Ruins. I’m a
Bicolano, and I grew up there, I see the Mayon Volcano every day but I wasn’t there yet during
that tragic day when it erupted, seeing the aftermath of it with my own two eyes, even though I
was still a child, it was scary but exciting, you can see the remnants of the old church, the
famous belltower, its kind of ironic, there was no sign of danger at all even though it was
literally “ruins” the breeze, the weather was fine during that day, it was beautiful day with
bustling crowds of tourists and vendors.
The Places I Hope to See

Baguio
(Baguio)

I have never been here, I’ve been to Tagaytay but it’s only the budget version, it doesn’t even
hold a candle to what Baguio is. From what I’ve heard and seen, Baguio seems amazing to me,
it’s the coldest city is the Philippines, isn’t it interesting seeing cold and the Philippines in the
same sentence? Of course, I want to experience that for myself. I want to do a photo walk and
take photos as much as I want without having to care if I'm sweaty already. Being used to the
city of Manila, where it’s always hot and humid, and if it’s cold that means it’s rainy season so
you are cold and wet, I want to experience being cold but dry it may be shallow but when I visit
places it’s the experience that I remember, some people may have deeper reasons why they go
places but for me its mostly the experience and having to tell myself “I’ve been there”.

Siargao
(Surigao del Norte)

It might be overrated but who cares, right? I want to go here too, I'm not a surfer or a diver or
into snorkeling or anything that has to do with me getting in the water (I’m afraid of the sea) but
that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy the place, the white sandy beach is enough, and when the shore
touches my feet that’s enough, I’ll just sit there and watch people and wait for the sunset that’s
enough for me. I have never really gone out of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao have a lot more
interesting places to offer, and this is one of them. It’s so popular and people who have been
there loved it, I want to take beach photos as well and post them on my virtual memory storage
and one day look back at how and where I spent my youth.
