- Greetings -Good morning class! How are you today? So before we are going to
start our lesson, I want you to fix yourselves first, sit properly and avoid
talking to your seatmates, pick up the trash under your seat if any, and
sanitize your hands with alcohol for us to avoid contamination.

- Students are grouped into two
- Group 1: Identify the logo given.

- Group 2: Look at the image below. Pay attention to the boxes
with the magic letters attached to them. You are given letters and
select letters that are found only in the picture. Arrange the letters
to form a word. (DRR Integration about fire extinguisher in every
institutions to prevent the spread of fire in case of emergency)

-The students will remain in their group
-Group 1 should select at least 2 logos and identify their
functions as a state institutions.
-Group 2 should analyze the given non-state institutions and
identify its functions.
- Each group is given 5mins to do and discuss the activity

-A country can be associated with how a family functions.

INSTITUTION-
it is composed of a formal rules, informal norms, or agreed upon
understanding that constraint and prescribe political actors behavior and
interaction with one another. ( talking about behavior, each of us have
our own behavior, behavior is very important in dealing with others with
all the respect that other need to gain from us) ESP Integration
Main Function: Keep society in order and implement specific tasks
assigned to them.

STATE AND ITS ELEMENTS


A state stands identified with its four absolutely essential elements:

1. POPULATION- is a community of person


2. TERRITORY- is the second essential element of the state. State
is a territorial unit.
3. GOVERNMENT- is the organization or machinery or agency or
magistracy of the state which makes, implements, enforces and
adjudicates the laws of the state.
ORGANS OF THE GOVERNMENT
EXECUTIVE- enforces and implements the laws, performs the
law application functions.
LEGISLATIVE- which formulates the will of the state, perform law
making functions.
JUDICIARY- which applies the laws to specific cases and settles
the disputes, perform adjudication functions.
4. SOVEREIGNTY- is the most exclusive element of the state.
(Speaking of elements in science how many elements do we
have in the periodic table?) Science Integration

STATE INSTITUTIONS- Institutions that have state functions and are


established to govern the state including all other agencies, bureaus and
offices.
- Armed Force of the Philippines(AFP)- Help the government
maintain peace and order throughout its territory. (AFP is the
acronym of Armed Force of the Philippines, acronym is commonly
used to combine the first letter of a word/s to create a new single
words) English Integration
- Local Government Unit (LGU)- is created to cater the needs of
the local barangays or communities.
- National Government Agencies (DILG, DND,DAR, DA, DOH,
DepEd, etc.)
- Department of Education (DepEd)- ensures the quality of
education based on the needs and norms of the society.
- National Statistics Office (NSO)/ Philippine Statistics Office
(PSA)- is the central statistical authority of the Philippine

government that collects, compiles, analyzes and publishes


statistical information on economic, social, demographic, political
affairs and general affairs of the people of the Philippines and
enforces the civil registration functions in the country
- Constitutional Commissions (COA, COMELEC, CSC)
- Government owned or controlled Corporations (GSIS, PAG-
IBIG, NFA, PHIC, SSS, etc.)
NON-STATE INSTITUTIONS- “non-state actors”. A group of people or
organization that participates in international affairs and relations but is
not affiliated with any state or nation.
Banks- it is a financial institution licensed to provide several
financial services to different types of customers. ( When we
talk about banks we expect that it involve numbers that offers
a loanable amount to to government and non-government
employee) Math Integration

Corporations- it is owned by a group of people but has a


separate legal identity ( the owner of the corporation are not
responsible for its own debts.)

Trade Unions- it is an organization composed of workers or


employees from related fields, which aims to represent the
interests and rights of its members, both in the workplace and
in the society.

Cooperatives-This are made up of people with common


interest who agreed to work together for easy, safe, and
affordable access to commodities, loans, and other services.
Developmental Agencies- These are agencies that promote
progress by engaging in projects, policy making and
dialogue.

Civil Organizations- These organizations are created to


expose the conditions of the marginalized sector of the
society by using mass media as its flat forms as they raise
