WEEK ONE
Friday
Read the poem carefully and in full sentences answer the questions that
follow.

THE WONDERFUL CREATURES

I was surprised to see all that was wonderful
The tall and short people moving together
The strong and weak men building big houses
The fat and thin women trotting to the well
Young and old boys playing in the hot sun
Pretty and ugly girls skipping ropes in the courtyard
Oh, how wonderful to view all this!

I was confused, to see big and small snakes

Coiled in one place with other animals
The elephant gently walking in the field with its calf
The fierce lioness waiting for a warden to bring some flesh
The buffalo restless trying to find the herd to join
Because it is new in this lonely park.
Oh, how marvellous all this is!
