B. Establishing a Purpose for the Lesson:

Objective: Explain to students the importance of proper waste


management in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. Emphasize
the role each individual plays in reducing, reusing, and recycling waste.

C. Presenting Examples/Instances of New Lesson:

Show visual examples or videos of different waste management practices,


such as sorting recyclables, composting organic waste, and reducing single-
use plastics.

D. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills #1:

Discuss the concept of the three R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Reduce: Encourage students to minimize waste by avoiding unnecessary


packaging or single-use items.

Reuse: Discuss creative ways to reuse items instead of throwing them away,
such as repurposing containers or donating unwanted items.

Recycle: Explain the importance of recycling materials like paper, plastic,


glass, and metal, and how it helps conserve resources and reduce pollution.

E. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills #2 (Optional):

If time permits, engage students in a hands-on activity related to waste


management, such as sorting recyclables or brainstorming ideas for
reducing waste in their daily lives.

F. Developing Mastery (Leads to Formative Assessment):

Engage students in a discussion about practical strategies they can


implement to improve waste management practices at home and in their
community. Encourage them to share their ideas and experiences.

Facilitate a discussion about how the concepts learned in the lesson can be
applied in students' daily lives. Encourage them to identify opportunities for
reducing waste, reusing materials, and recycling at home and school.

H. Making Generalizations and Abstractions About the Lesson:

Guide students in summarizing the key points of the lesson and making
generalizations about the importance of proper waste management for
environmental sustainability.

I. Evaluating Learning:

Assess students' understanding by asking open-ended questions about


waste management principles and practices. Provide feedback and
clarification as needed.
