NARRATIVE REPORT ON NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL (NSED)

September 08,2022

Because earthquakes strike without warning, life-protecting actions must be taken

immediately at the first indication of ground shaking. There will not be time to think through what to
do. Therefore, of all earthquake preparedness measures, earthquake drills are the most essential.
The purpose of this is to help students and teachers learn how to react immediately and
appropriately.
The drill started with the briefing where the pupils from Kindergarten to Grade Six together
with volunteer teacher Mrs. Jorelyn Salinas followed strictly the three important things during an
earthquake. These were the Ducking, Covering and Holding. Watching out for failing objects,
keeping calm and avoiding panic. Before the actual scenario Mr. Julius Roxas, school DRRMC
Coordinator conducted an orientation room to room. He disseminated the information about the
occurrence of earthquake as well as the needs to carry out a drill to enhance the pupil’s
awareness on the safety measures before, during, and after the earthquake.
The drill participants were 30 pupils and 1 teacher. The drill lasted for 3 minutes. No
untoward incident happened during the drill. Everyone cooperates on the event and it was
successfully accomplished.
