Nature of Resources

Nature of Resource can be said to be those

natural materials that keep occurring
frequently with repetition which improve the
growth and development of individuals.
Examples are:-
Soil, water, vegetation e.t.c
Natural resources can be classified into
two(2) types.
1. Renewable natural resources :- are
those resources that regenerate, regrow
unlimitedly in nature e.g oxygen, water
e.t.c.
2. Non-renewable natural resources :- are
resources that hardly regenerate,
exhaustible and are limited in nature e.g
gold, copper, petroleum e.t.c
 Advantages of Natural resources
 Source of economic growth and
development.
 Source of food for both man and animal.
 Survival of all living things on earth.

Disadvantages of Natural resources

 Global warming.
 Landscape degradation.
 Pollution of air, water and land.

Resource Exploitation
These are the positive or negative use of
natural resources for economic growth and
development.
Causes of Resource Exploitation
 Scarcity
 Extinction
 Industrialization; need for raw materials
 Forced migration
 Soil erosion
 Oil depletion
 Global warming.
