LESSON GUIDE

ELEMENTS OF A SHORT STORY (SETTING)

I. Objectives:
During the lesson discussion, the students should be able to:
1. Enumerate the basic elements of a short story.
2. Define setting.
3. Can identify setting in the sentences or stories.

II. Subject Matter:


Topic: Elements of a Short Story (Setting)
References: Secondary Education in English ( Isabela State University )
Instructional material: Pictures
Values Integration: Teamwork

III. Procedure
A. Preliminaries
a. Prayer:
The teacher will ask a student to lead the prayer.
b. Checking of Attendance:
The teacher will check the attendance before starting the discussion.
B. Learning Proper
a. Motivation:
The teacher will ask a question to the students about their idea / knowledge regarding to the
topic.
b. Presentation of the Lesson and Objectives
The teacher will ask the student about their favorite book/ movie.
The teacher will ask about the elements of short story.
The teacher will introduce the topic (Setting).

c. Discussion:
The teacher will let them read a dialogue.
The teacher will ask the students to repeat the dialogue.
The teacher will call some volunteers to present / demonstrate the dialogue.
The teacher will use pictures of different settings during the discussion.

d. Application:
The teacher will call volunteers to answer her questions.

IV. Evaluation:
The teacher will ask the student to create their own dialogue in continuation of the one she had
presented for 10 minutes.
V. Assignment:
The teacher will ask the students to look for a partner for their assignment.
The teacher will ask the students to memorize the dialogue that she had presented and
incorporate their continuation.
The assignment will be presented next meeting.
