TOPIC: RISE OF CONTENT CREATORS

Gone are the old days when mass communication was a media dominated just by long-
standing production companies and expensive equipment. Individuals armed with a camera in one
hand and creativity in the other, took the digital era by storm. ( ung intro parang intro nang book na
luma) used a more modern line or something na maappreciate ng generation z or medyo pop sa
pandinig or much modern new line)

Along with the global pandemic outbreak came the content creation boom, witnessing a
staggering 119% increase, equivalent to approximately 165 million creators, according to a 2022
Adobe study.( use a recent data but do not highlight the pandemic so much, hindi na popular ang
pandemic now na 2024 na, kaya use just 1 paragraph siguro)

However, the sudden prominence of content creation is not a mere coincidence. When the
COVID-19 set in and health regulations were imposed, it acted as the fan for the flames of what
would become the most used form of social communication - social media.

Moreover, people required more income amid massive layoffs during the pandemic, which
turned them to start content creation to earn extra cash. (emphasize this more than the pandemic,
realidad na kya sumisikat ang content creation ay dahil sa pera na dala nito, especially sa mga taong
may talent, creative ideas at skills para gumawa ng mga content)

Additionally, rapid development in smartphone technology have played a primary role in


empowering this phenomenon. Smartphones with high-resolution cameras and capable of running
editing applications and social media platforms have altered every individual into a one-man
production studio.

With social media surpassing the audience of traditional media outlets, companies are also
shifting to social media for marketing, augmenting to the pool of content circulated to the users.

However, amidst the proliferation of user-generated content, challenges such as content


saturation and originality emerge. With thousands to millions of content creators vying for the world’s
attention, standing out amidst the noise of all the content becomes difficult.

Unsurprisingly, there are some who are ready to cross the line of genuine expression and
content blurs for the sake of garnering viewership. Creators may resort to cheap clickbait tactics to
even misinformation, which not only destroys the authenticity of a content but also undermines the
principle of freedom of expression in which content creation is rooted from.

Nevertheless, the massive rise of content creators marks a paradigm shift in mass
communication, providing individuals the tools to become the engineers of their envisioned narratives
presented in their own creative ways.

As we navigate through this ever-changing digital era, only one thing remains certain:
creativity knows no bounds, and anyone can be a storyteller.( ok ito)
