Assignment Overview

This module aims primarily to ensure that students understand the nature and meaning of corporate strategy and can
assess the strategic position of corporations operating in complex global markets.
The assignment aims to develop student’s understanding of global business strategies, the formulation and
implementation of global strategies.

This assignment has been designed to provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your achievement of the
following module learning outcomes:

LO 1 Critically evaluate international and global strategy;

LO 2 Apply strategic models and theories to evaluate global strategy formulation and implementation;

LO 3 Analyse different strategies for international expansion.

Assignment Task

A written individual report (3,000 words)


This assignment is a critical analysis and evaluation of an organisation seeking to expand their business more
internationally in which you need to detail the formulation of a strategy and its implementation plan. Carry out a full
strategic analysis and evaluation of your chosen organisation’s current strategic position in its industry and critically
evaluate the international strategies the company can adopt in international markets and analyse the different modes
of entering international markets.

Use appendices to provide supporting evidence and make sure that you integrate key points from the appendices into
your answers.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TASK – WHAT YOU ARE BEING ASKED TO DO?

1.Introduce the purpose and structure of the report including brief overview of the company you have chosen.

2. Apply strategic management process models/frameworks to your selected company’s strategy formulation.

3.From the analysis in point 2, critically evaluate the global strategies of your company in international markets.

4. Analyse the different entry strategies your company adopts for international expansion.

5. Recommend strategies to increase the company’s competitiveness in international markets.

1. You are required to work effectively to determine an appropriate structure and layout for the work.

2. Your report should include and apply key theories, models, and concepts relevant to the requirements of
the assignment task and be based on your chosen global company.

Submission Details

This assignment should be submitted electronically via Moodle (module tutors will discuss this process with you
during class time).
• Please ensure that your work has been saved in an appropriate file format (Microsoft Word, Excel or
PowerPoint, or PDF are the most widely used; Google Docs is also accepted). Your file must also contain at
least 20 words of text, consist of fewer than 400 pages and be less than 40MB in size.

• You can submit your work as many times as you like before the submission date. If you do submit your work
more than once, your earlier submission will be replaced by the most recent version.

• Once you have submitted your work, you will receive a digital receipt as proof of submission, which will be
sent to your forwarded e-mail address (provided you have set this up). Please keep this receipt for future
reference, along with the original electronic copy of your assignment

This assignment should be submitted before 23:59pm UK time on Monday 15th April 2024

You should submit all work for summative assessments by the above deadline. Work submitted up to three working
days after the deadline will be accepted and marked, but the mark will be capped at the pass mark (40%) unless there
is a valid reason for the late submission (i.e., having been granted an extension to the deadline or a deferral under the
terms of the Extenuating Circumstances Policy).

Work submitted more than three working days after the deadline without a valid reason will not be accepted and will
be recorded as 0% RN (refer, no work submitted).
