    This thesis examines the effectiveness of using animation video media and a snake and ladder simulation method to improve toothbrushing knowledge among students at SDN 22 Andalas elementary school in Padang, Indonesia. Tooth decay rates at this school are the highest in the area at 74.56%. The study used a quasi-experimental design with 30 students, testing knowledge with questionnaires before and after exposures. Results of a Mann-Whitney test found no significant difference in improved knowledge between the animation video and simulation methods. Both approaches were equally effective in improving students' understanding of proper toothbrushing.

    The Effectiveness of Education Using Animation Video Media and Snake and Ladder
    Simulation Method in Improving Toothbrushing Knowledge of Students at SDN 22 Andalas
    Padang in 2023

    ABSTRACT
    Toothbrushing is an action taken to clean teeth and the oral cavity from food residues that
    adhere to teeth and the oral cavity using a toothbrush and toothpaste. The number of oral health
    cases in the Andalas community health center's working area is 4,323 cases. The data on tooth
    decay in elementary schools in the Working Area of the Andalas Community Health Center
    show the highest data at SDN 22 Andalas in Padang City, which is 74.56%. The research's aim
    is to determine whether there is the effectiveness of education using animation video media
    and snake and ladder simulation in improving toothbrushing knowledge among elementary
    school students at SDN 22 Andalas in Padang City in 2023.
    This research is quantitative in nature with a quasi-experimental design. The sampling
    technique used in this research is Purposive Sampling. A total of 30 respondents were selected,
    with 15 respondents exposed to animation video media and 15 respondents exposed to snake
    and ladder simulation, and knowledge was measured using a questionnaire. The data analysis
    method used was the Mann-Whitney Test.
    The research results using the Mann-Whitney Test showed a p-value of 0.079 > 0.05 (accepting
    Ho), which means there is no difference in the effectiveness of students' knowledge about
    toothbrushing between the provision of animation video media and snake and ladder
    simulation.
    In conclusion, education using animation video and snake and ladder simulation is equally
    effective in improving toothbrushing knowledge among elementary school students at SDN 22
    Andalas in Padang City. It is expected that students can apply and enhance awareness of
    toothbrushing both at school and in their living environment.
