According to tradition, Krampus Nacht takes place the night before the

celebration of the feast of Saint Nicholas: a night in which people dress up as

the devil Krampus and walk through the streets. Krampus is a horned figure
who, during this festive season, scares children who have misbehaved.

Christmas socks are a classic on

December 6, Saint Nicholas Day. It
is nothing more than an empty sock
that children leave at the door so
that Saint Nicholas can fill them
with little surprises: from toys to
German chocolate sweets.

Christmas Eve or Heiliger Abend in Germany is a

day of family celebration, in which the tree is
decorated, the food is prepared and the arrival of
the Child Jesus is awaited. The Germans enjoy a
traditional dinner with typical dishes such as
potato salad, sausages, duck or goose. After
dinner, a bell is rung for the children to enter to
see the gifts that the Child Jesus has brought
them, and they sing carols.
