Introduction
There is a lot in common between education and gender equality - both are
instrumental to the development of a society as also intrinsic to living in a
society and interacting with fellow beings. School is one of the places, which
shows gender issues. Many studies show different matters of discrimination,
both of boys and girls, and many amount of adjustment is still needed if equality
between or equal opportunities especially the strategies to be used.
Education, as is imparted in many institutions and systems, works not just to
impede gender equality, but also actively promote gender inequality. Whether

several students I personally knew that are part of the LGBTQ+ Community and
they are also the students who are publicly open about their gender identities.
However, we cannot be so sure that there might still be some students within
the school premises that are closeted because of the fact that they are prone to
discrimination and are in highest risk for bullying because of their gender
orientation. Even though LGBTQ+ Filipinos are widely accepted in Philippine
society, still face discrimination. Thus, we can’t beat the long time allegations
that there are still many people in our society and even students in school who
does not acknowledge the existence of this community. With this issue, I can
Program Details
The title of this program is “Respect for All, All for Respect”. I decided to create
this program for I observed that some students inside and outside the school
grounds verbally harass or bully any person who is part of the LGBTQIA+
Community. I believed that discrimination on grounds of Sexual Orientation (i.e.
whether an individual is or is perceived to be heterosexual, homosexual or
bisexual) or Trans is unlawful.
Homophobic bullying motivated by hostility or prejudice based on a person's
actual or perceived sexual orientation can be considered to constitute hate
incidents (Equality and Human Rights Commission 2009). This can take many
forms including:

 Unwanted physical contact.

 Threatened or actual physical abuse or attack.
Such behaviour can seriously interfere with a person's personal health, school
 Verbal abuse such as suggestive remarks, jokes or name calling.

under Article 111, Section 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 states that every person has the right to
life, security of person and privacy, right to be free from torture, arbitrary arrest
and detention, the right to be free from discrimination and the right to
freedom of expression, and tlie right to
To effectively promote respect, it is assumed that the following activity will help
in achieving the main goal: Respect for All, All for Respect.
1. Schedule a workshop about Gender and Sexual Orientation
Make this workshop a mandatory seminar for all students in order
to help and make them learn and understand the definitions of gender
identity and gender expression and how those grounds differ from sexual
orientation.
