I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
English II is the second course in the set of four compulsory courses for
English non-major students at BAV. The principal purpose of those four courses
is to help learners to achieve the outcome of Level 3/6 according to Common
European Framework of Reference (CEFR)
English III aims at developing learner’s competency in using English in contexts
that frequently occur at work, school, leisure or daily life activities. The three main
units that the course covers include travel, spending, and leisure time. Each unit
provides learners with appropriate thematic vocabulary, relevant grammar, and
exam tips for B1 Tests.
II. COURSE OBJECTIVES
After completion of this course, learners are expected to reach B1 level. Detail
objectives of the course are described as follow:
Listening skills: In this course, the listening component consists of B1 listening
parts 3 & 4. As a result, after the course, learners are expected to be able to listen
to short dialogues on contextualized topics for the specific information.
Reading skills: In this course, the reading component consists of B1 reading
parts 4 & 5. As a result, after the course, learners are expected to be able to read
long texts for specific information and improve the knowledge of grammar and
structure.
Writing skills: In this course, the writing component consists of B1 writing part
3. As a result, after the course, learners are expected to be able to write long
informal writings (emails or story) in length of about 100 words.
Speaking skills: In this course, the speaking component consists of B1speaking
part 3 and 4. As a result, after the course, learners are expected to be able to
describe a random picture of any topic with limited mistakes in grammar and
word choice and then make a conversation with a partner to discuss about a topic
related to to the picture they were given.
Grammar and vocabulary: After the course, learners are expected to
• understand the usages and practice with minimum errors different tenses
(present, past, and future), voices (active and passive), conditional
clauses, and some modal verbs.
