Chapter 41

Father drives from the police station to their house. In the car, Father tells him
to stay out of trouble, but he wants to discover who killed Wellington. They arrive and
Christopher goes to his room to play and be with Toby. At 2:07 he goes to the kitchen
to get a drink of orange squash and finds Father crying. He asks Father if he was
sad about Wellington, and he said he was. So Cristopher got his drink and left him
alone, because when he is sad he likes to be alone.

Chapter 43
Mother died 2 years ago:
Christopher came back from school and no one answered the door. He got in
with the hidden key. No one was home, so he continued with his stuff. An hour and a
half later Father arrived, he asked for Mother. Christopher hadn't seen her so Father
made some calls and then went out again. 2 hours and a half later he came back
and told Christopher that he will not see mother for a while because she had a
problem with her heart and was in the hospital. He asked if he could see her but
Father told him he couldn’t. Christopher was worried about what she was going to
eat because food at hospitals is very bad.

Chapter 47
On the bus going to school Christopher saw 4 red cars in a row, which meant
it was going to be a good day. 3 red cars in a row meant quite a good day and 5
red cars in a row made it a super good day and 4 yellow cars in a row made it a
black day. This is because he likes things being in a nice order and one way of
things being in a nice order is to be logical. He said he wouldn’t mind things
changing if he became an astronaut, but that he probably couldn’t do it.
Terry, who is the older brother of Francis, who is at school, told him that he
would only ever get a job collecting supermarket trollies or cleaning out donkey shit
at an animal sanctuary and they didn’t let spazzers drive rockets that cost billions of
pounds. Christopher told this to father and he told them that Terry was jealous of
Christopher being cleverer than him, and that Terry would probably end up in prison
while he will be in university studying mathematics or physics.
When he told all this to Shiobhan she told him to write about finding
Wellington and going to the police station. And that's when he started to write all this.

Chapter 53
2 weeks later mother died:
Christopher didn’t see her but Father took her a lot of food and a Get Well card he
had made with lots of cars on it. Father told him she died from a heart attack that a
wasn't expected. Mother was only 38 years old, was very active, rode a bicycle, and
ate healthy food. Because of that, Christopher was interested in what kind of heart
attack it was, for him it was probably an aneurysm. Mrs Shears came over and
cooked for them, and after dinner played scrubber with him.

Chapter 59
Christopher is determined to find out who killed Wellington even though
Father told him to stay out of people’s business. But he didn’t like it when people told
him not to do something and it's not clear. He likes it when Shiobhan tells him what
not to do because she is very clear on what he can do.
To start his investigation, he goes to Mrs Shears house and tells her that he
didn’t kill Wellington and that he wants to find out who did it, she kicked him out.
When no one was watching he climbed over the wall and walked to the back garden
where she kept all her gardening tools. Where he saw the same fork that had been
sticking out of Wellington and it had been cleaned because there was no blood on
the spikes. This meant the fork belonged to Mrs Shears, he wondered if she had
killed the dog, either that or Red Herring, which is a clue that makes you come to a
wrong conclusion. He went back home and was very happy to be a detective and
finding out things.
