 STUDENTS:

Marvin and Christopher are in the cafeteria of their university, resting after a long class
schedule while chatting about the gifts they received on their recent birthdays.

Christopher: Marvin, do you remember my last birthday? … my mom gave me a new

mobile phone. Did you know that the first mobile phone weighed more than a tablet?

It’s impressive to think about how mobile phones have evolved. My new phone is

definitely lighter and thinner than those first models. Plus, I can do a lot more with it,

like take high-quality photos, browse the internet faster, and store more apps.

However, I can’t use it for heavier tasks like programming or video editing. And you,

Marvin ? Did you receive any technological device as a birthday gift?

Marvin: Wow… That’s true! And speaking of extreme sizes, have you heard of THE

OLED? It’s the world’s largest TV. Although my laptop doesn’t compare to that, my

laptop has a larger screen and better resolution than my old laptop. Plus, I can use it

for heavier tasks like video editing and programming. However, I can’t play certain

video games that are only available on Windows.

Christopher: Excellent … in my case, my tablet is much lighter and more portable

than my laptop. I can take it everywhere and it’s perfect for taking notes and watching

videos. However, I can’t use it for intensive programming tasks. Plus, I have new

headphones that are much more comfortable and have better sound quality than the

old ones. I can listen to music and podcasts for hours without feeling discomfort.

However, I can’t use them to make calls because they don’t have a built-in microphone.

Marvin: If you can’t make calls, that’s why I don’t use them… My new gaming console

is definitely more powerful and faster than my old one. I can play the latest games with

high-quality graphics and without any delay. Plus, I can play online with friends, which

makes the experience even more fun. However, I can’t use it for productivity or work

tasks, like I could with a computer.
