At one time these materials were in the possession of Dr. Robert E. Speer. They
were given to the Seminary Libraries along with other papers of the Speer family,
by Dr. Speer's daughter in July of 1960. The Bowen items were organized and
cataloged with the Robert E. Speer manuscript collection in 1964. At that time
they were assigned the call numbers Doc .S7542 B78 - B786 in the library
catalog.
In May of 1997 the Speer collection was reorganized, under the direction of
William O. Harris, Archivist. At that time these items were removed and
organized as a separate collection by Raymond D. Cannata. The finding aid was
edited in February 2009 by Sarah Seraphin.
