TOURISM INDUSTRY SECTORS AND ORGANIZATIONS


Government sector- is made up of agencies that are involved in the implementation of laws and
regulations

Tourism bill of 2004- senate bill 1725 also known as TOURISM BILL 2004 was introduced by sen.richard
gordon during the 13th congress

They features the reorganization of the dot into four groups;

 Department proper
 Department services
 Bureaus and offices
 Departments regional offices

DOT- department of tourism

PTA- philippine tourism authority

PCVC- philippine convention and visitores corporation

TEZ-tourism enterprise zones

-referring the geographic areas capable of being defined into once contigous territory

Local government units- is the unit below the regional division of the national government

It is also divided into three branches;

 Executive
 Legislative
 Judiciary

LGU's are dicided into four levels;

 Autonomous regions
 Provinces and cities independent from a province
 Component cities and municipalities
 Barangays

*These government units have important roles and tasks to ensure the smooth workings of the industry
and the attainment of its goals and objectives

1. Department of transportation and communications (DOTC)- regulates and supervises the


transportation and communication industries
2. Civil aeroautics board (CAB)- regulates the economic aspect of air transpo
3. Air transportation office (ATO)- establish minimum safety standards for air carriers
4. Maritime industry authority (MARINA)- makes policies on maritime safety
5. Philippine ports authority (PPA)- integrates and coordinates port planning
6. Land transportation franchise and regulatory board (LTFRB)- administers,enforces and
monitors the compliance of the land transpo services
7. Department of public works and highways (DPWH)- oversees the country's infrastructure
8. Department of foreign affairs (DFA)- develops and maintains friendly relations
9. Department of justice (DOJ)- regulates the entry and exit of foreign nationals
10. Department of finance (DOF)- responsible for revenue collection through the bureau of internal
revenue and bureau of customs
11. Department of environment and natural resources (DENR)- oversees the protection of natural
environment
12. Department of interior and local government (DILG)- supervises both the LGU's and the
philippine national police (PNP) – ensures peace and order in the communities and safety
