Mount Rinjani

Mount Rinjani is an active volcano on the Indonesian island of Lombok located at the
Indo-Australian plate. Mount Rinjani is one of the highest peaks in South East Asia, with an
elevation of 3726 m. Mount Rinjani’s first eruption started all the way back in 1257, It was
known to be the largest eruption in the past 2000 years. Throughout the 1800s at least 4 eruptions
happened. In the 1900s, at least 20 eruptions occurred. Even at one of the eruptions, in 1945, it
damaged land, property, etc. So far in the 2000s, there have been 8 eruptions but it doesn’t seem
to be that severe, their latest eruption is on 27 September 2016. It wasn’t notified of an early
warning system when an eruption was about to happen. No one was killed/ injured due to the
eruption but it was known that 16 people died and 335 people were injured because of an
earthquake.
