‘ㅂ’ 불규칙 동사 Irregular ‘b’ Verbs Korean Grammar

With irregular ‘ㅂ’ verbs, the verb stem ends with ‘ㅂ.’ If this is followed by a construction which starts
with a vowel, then the ㅂ is changed to 오 or 우 (mostly, ㅂ is changed to 우). The conjugation then
affects 오 or 우.

• Formation

With irregular ‘ㅂ’ (b) verbs, the verb stem ends with ‘ㅂ.’ If this is followed by a construction which
starts with a vowel, then the ㅂ is changed to 오 (o) or 우 (u) (most of the time, ㅂ is changed to 우). The

Let's know more of this character " ㅂ " so we can pronounce it correctly whenever it is use...

So as we know these are

1. ㅂ is "P" at the beginning and end of the word.

and "B" when at the medial .

But always remember... Hangul don't have an exact sound equivalent in the English alphabet . Just like
when we say it sounds like a "P or B" - it means that it has the sound of those letter P and B but not
exactly the same....

Again as i have taught you about pronouncing "ㄱ" as soft K or G ,

this "ㅂ" is also a soft B and P.

And again when you are confuse which letter you say (P or B)

then I can say you are close to the correct pronunciation .

2. "ㅂ" becomes an "m" sound when when it is followed by hangul " ㄴ"

Like .....

입니다 - sounds more of imnida than ipnida

습니다 - sounds more of a "seumnida/sumnida " than " seupnida /supnida"
