METHOD STATEMENT – ROOF- NON GREENE BUILDING AREA BETWEEN 3500 to 20000Sq ft

LIQUID APPLIED POLYURATHANE WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE- DR FIXIT FLEXI PU 270(I)

Substrate Requirements
Compressive strength

• Substrate compressive strength should be at least 25MPa and cohesive bond strength at least 1.5MPa, the new
concrete to be cured for at least 28 days.
Minimum Maximum
Surface Temperature +5°C +60°C

Ambient Temperature +5°C +35°C

Residual Moisture 2% 5%

Relative Humidity 5% 80%

Dew point Substrate temperature must be 3°C above the dew point

Surface Preparation:

• Cleaned the surface by using vacuum and ensure the surface is free from laitance, loose or friable materials,
debris etc.

• Ensure the substrate has properly cured and the concrete is profile free, no ridges or troughs. All contaminants
should be removed by mechanical vacuum assisted preparation equipment such as scrabbling/shot
blasting/diamond grinding to achieve a light abrasive blast to achieve preferred surface profile of CSP 4 or CSP
5.

• Angle Fillets/Vata/Coving must provide at size of 50 x 50 mm on all vertical up-stands & junctions /corners with
cement sand Polymer modified mortar all around the periphery.

• Mechanical installations e.g. Solar panels, AC Outdoor unit stands, Ladders, Lamp Post etc. shall be casted with
pedestal concreting for monolithic application of liquid applied membrane - Dr. Fixit Flexi PU 270(I).
Repairing of Surface Imperfections

• If concrete surface found to be defective with pinholes/bug roles/honeycombs etc., it must be filled/ repaired
using scratch coat (prepare scratch coat by mixing Dr. Fixit Cipoxy 16D primer. Apply the scratch coat by using
suitable spatula/squeeze to get level surface for the upcoming primer.

Pre -Pond Test
• Water ponding shall be carried out to check the efficacy of RCC waterproof by filling water up to 50mm depth for
48 Hrs.
• All dripping cracks shall be marked from further treatment.
Leaking cracks on RCC slab
• Cracks which are visible and having dripleakages should be treated with cementitious injection grouting.
• Drill holes at 45⁰ angle at both sides of the crack/ leakage area at an interval of 300 mm center to center depending on
intensity ofleakage.

• Clean the hole and remove drilling dust before placing the nozzle. Seal and pack the nozzle with fast setting Dr.
Fixit Instant Leak Plug compound.

• Insert PVC nozzles and then inject the cement slurry admixed with expansive admixture Pidicrete AM (225gms/
bag of cement) by using 40PSI grout pump. Cut the nozzle at slab level and seal the nozzle areas with PMM.
Pipe insert/ outlet treatment
• Primed surface with Dr Fixit Cipoxy 16D and allow it to cure for touch dry as per datasheet

• Apply first coat of Dr Fixit Flexi PU 270(I) and place correct dimension comb cut piece of 60GSM geotextile fleece
and place it across pipe and saturate it with Dr Fixit Flexi PU 270(I)

• Place another 60GSM geotextile fleece cut in flower pattern and placing at comb cut fleece and ensure to saturate
the geotextile fleece with Dr Fixit Flexi PU 270(I)

Priming:

Application – Waterproofing:

• Prime absorbent surfaces like concrete, cement screed with moisture insensitive Dr. Fixit Cipoxy 16D primer at
consumption rate of 5 to 6 square meter per liter.
• Allow the primer to touch dry as per recommended period.
• Primer consumption may vary on higher, depend upon surface porosity and undulation.
Waterproofing membrane application:

• Stir Dr. Fixit Flexi PU 270 (I) well before using.

• Pour Dr. Fixit Flexi PU 270 (I) onto the primed surface and lay the first coat over the RCC slab by roller or brush
or airless spray at consumption of 0.80 - 0.85 Kg/sqm. Extend the coating over the corner and over the vertical
wall surface up to height such that it is terminated at 300mm above Floor Finish Level (at drip mold). It is highly
recommended to restrict maximum DFT of 0.6mm thickness in each layer at recommended consumption rate.

• Allow it to dry for 12-18 hours (not later than 48hours) then apply 2nd coat layer in perpendicular direction to the
first coat at same consumption.

• Allow it to dry for 12-18 hours (not later than 48hours) then apply 3rd coat layer in perpendicular direction to the
2nd coat.

• Prior application of subsequent coat, ensure dust free and moisture free coating layer.

• 2.5 kg/m² is minimum recommended consumption when applied in three layers to achieve a DFT of 1.5 mm to
comply with ASTM C 898 Standard Guide for use of High Solid Content, Cold Liquid- Applied Elastomeric Water
Proofing Membrane.

• Allow the membrane to air cure for 7 days before water ponding or any activity over it.
• Drip mold to be filled with Dr Fixit PU sealant and allow it to cure as per recommended duration
Pond Test:

• Ponding of the slab shall be carried out to check the efficacy of waterproof coating by filling water to 50mm depth
for 48 Hrs.
Protection & Slope over the waterproof membrane (Horizontal Areas):

• Lay minimum 100 GSM geotextile membrane over the waterproofing membrane to create a separation layer.
Geotextile membrane will also act as protection layer during laying of concrete screed. The geotextile layer shall
have 100 mm overlap and spot bonded and shall be extended at the wall up to 100mm above the slab floor.

• Lay Concrete screed of M20 grade concrete (RMC) over the geotextile membrane admixed with polypropylene
fiber at 0.9Kg/cum in site mix to minimize shrinkage cracks in the screed and to provide slopeof 1:100. towards
the drain outlets for effective and efficient draining of water, including making of angle filletalong with concrete
screed and within 24-36 hours of screed laying, saw-cutting panels of 3m x 4m (approx.6mmWx 10mm D) and
filling the grooves with Dr. Fixit PU Sealant.
Precautions & Limitations:
• All corners, gaps, joints, protrusions & outlets shall be coated with two extra coats.
• Ensure the application surface is dried with moisture contents <5%, Do not apply during rains

• Never dilute Dr. Fixit Cipoxy 16D or Dr Fixit Flexi PU 270(I) .

• The application should not commence if the surface temperature <5°C
• Higher humidity may modify the curing performance of Dr Fixit Flexi PU 270(I) and may affect the final finish
