Give us essential information someone or something. This
about the person or thing information can be omitted

''I like the woman WHO lives next ''The library, WHICH is full of books, is
door.'' my favourite place to go.''

Relativisers
WHO
Used for both type of relative clauses. Used for people
''I am the guy WHO was playing the violin.''

WHICH
Used for both types of relative clauses. Used for things or
animals.
''This is my cat WHICH is white.''
WHOSE
Used for both types of relative clauses. Used when
talking about a relation of belonging/possession.
''She is the girl WHOSE hair is beautifull.''

WHOM
Used for both type of relative clauses.
Used for people in non-subject functions. Very formal.
''He is the man WHOM i saw yesterday.''

THAT
Can be used instead of ''Who/Which'' in defining relative
clauses. 'That' cannot be changed for 'Who/Which' in
non-defining relative clauses.
''This is the cellphone THAT i stole yesterday''

Relative adverbs
WHERE
Refers to a place where something takes place.
''This is the place WHERE i used to work.''

WHEN
Refers to the time when something takes place.
''That was the day WHEN we kissed for the first time.''

WHY
Refers to reasons.
''Thats the reason WHY the sky is blue.''
