SCHOOL COORDINATOR

POSITION DESCRIPTION STATEMENT

ROLE FOCUS The School Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the operations of the school
promote and support effective teaching and learning. This includes providing high
level advice to the leadership team on all matters related to the implementation
of the curriculum, the relevant industrial agreements, and effective management
of the school.

SPECIFIC  Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, systems


RESPONSIBILITIES and processes to ensure the highly effective operation of the school.
 Ensure coverage of classes and the effective implementation of the
curriculum on a daily basis.
 Coordinate all arrangements for short term contract replacements of
teaching staff including induction of staff and communication with sub
schools, Learning Area Coordinators, the Staff Development Coordinator and
the leadership team.
 Arrange for the employment of Casual Relief Teachers (CRT) within the
allocated budget. Provide professional assistance to CRTs, including
orientation to school policy and processes, provision of course outlines and
work, and appropriate resources.
 Monitor the implementation of the industrial agreement, and provide regular
reports to the leadership team and the Advisory Committee.
 Coordinate the preparation, publication and communication of:
o the annual school calendar, and ensure its alignment with term
meeting grids
o special event arrangements such as end of year activities, student
assemblies, etc
o arrangements for parent-teacher interviews, including hiring of
interpreters, staff location details, and advice to students and
parents
o the yard duty roster
 Monitor records of staff absences and extras allocated, and provide regular
reports to the Advisory Committee and the leadership team.
 Assume responsibility for communication with staff on all matters related to
school coordination and organisation.
 Liaise with new staff to monitor their wellbeing and to arrange for appropriate
development and support as required.
 Manage the budget and resources associated with the program.
 Any other duties as directed by the Principal.

SELECTION CRITERIA SC1 Demonstrated high level understanding of initiatives in student learning
including the Standards, the Principles of Learning and Teaching P-12 and
Assessment and Reporting Advice and the capacity to provide leadership
in the alignment of these areas.

SC2 Demonstrated outstanding classroom teaching skills and the capacity to


support colleagues to continually improve teaching and learning.

SC3 Demonstrated high level ability to monitor and assess student learning
data at the individual, cohort and whole school level and to use this data
to inform teaching for improved student learning.

SC4 Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high
level interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop constructive
relationships with students, parents and other staff and contribute to the
leadership and management of the school.

SC5 Demonstrated commitment and capacity to actively contribute to and


lead whole school improvement initiatives, manage major curriculum or
student activities and a commitment to ongoing professional learning for
self and others to enable further development of skills, expertise and
teaching capacity.
