Lesson 16: Natural Resources

•Resources are things we use to provide for all our needs and they are found
in nature.

•Examples of natural resources:


•1- Water: people use it for drinking and other purposes.
•2- Land: people use it to build houses and grow food.
•3- Trees: they provide wood, timber and food.
•4- Fish and Seafood: provide food for people
•5- Minerals and Metals: used to make cooking utensils, electrical items, pipes
and other things.
•6- Oil and Gas: found deep in the earth, used as a source of fuel.
Lesson 17: The Arabian Gulf
Valuable resources in the Arabian Gulf are:

1)Land and water: water is used for drinking and also for agriculture. Much of
the water used comes from the sea after taking out the salt in it and this
process is called “desalination.”

2)Trees: trees are grown in AG countries are dates and citrus fruits.

3)Fish and seafood.

4)Minerals and metals:

5)Oil and gas: They brought most wealth to the region and sold to other
countries around the world
Lesson 18: Transport
•Land Transport
1.Private transport is owned and used by private individuals or
companies. Cars are the most common form of private transport
2.Public transport is used by members of the public. Types
include taxis, buses and trains

•Water transport: for example boats, ferries and water taxis.


Large boats are used for longer journeys and carry goods around the
world.

•Air transport is used to travel longer distances by air.

•Walking and cycling. A good way to be active is to walk or cycle.


Lesson 19:
Populations
•A Population is all people who live in a
country, town or region.

•The characteristics of a population refer to:


1- Age ( children and adolescents)
2- Gender (males and females)
3- Culture
4- Changing population
Lesson 20:
people and places
•In the past, people chose settlement
locationsbased on survival needs, available
resources, and safety considerations.

•Today, people choose where to live based


on needs, resources, and quality of life.
Lesson 21:
Being a part of society
•A society is made up of people who live
together in organised communities.

•Being a part of a society means belonging to a big


group, where we have benefits and responsibilities
and good members care about others, and work to
make a better society for everyone.
