Chapter 1 System Overview


1.1 Introduction
Outdoor all-in-one electric vehicle (EV) charger is a distributed charging source for electric
vehicles. It is fast and effective in deployment of charging network for electric vehicles to
provide charging services in different powers. Outdoor all-in-one DC charger consists of
integrated charger and charging connector, including, to be specific, charger module
components, sampling unit, billing and settlement unit, human-computer interface, control
and protection unit and charging connector. This EV charger is applicable to charging stations
and company parking lots.

Features:

 Product design meets the latest energy standards and the safety and performance
requirements stated in national standards.
 It adopts modular design and allows for single module hot-plugging, ensuring flexible

power configuration and easy maintenance.


 With high efficiency, high power factor and low input harmonic current, additional
reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression equipment are not required.
 A color touch interface is provided, which comes with corresponding voice operation
prompts and fault indications.
 The charger applies an air-cooling design. Air is charged from the front and exhausted
from the top, and a turbo-fan delivers a good cooling effect.
 Protection rating is IP54.
 Charging is possible by reading your bank card and by scanning QR code.

1.4 Operating Instructions


 Charging access: Insert the charging gun into the charging port of a plug-in hybrid and
lock it to confirm connection status;
 Start charging: Tap the touch screen and proceed to next step according to the prompts:
Read your card → select charging mode → automatic charging → start charging →
charging indicator blinking → charger automatically charges your vehicle according to
the selected mode;
 Charging mode selection: The main charging mode is automatic charging: charging
equipment communicates with on-board BSM, and charging process, charging
parameters and charging time are mainly controlled by BMS of the vehicle;
 Charging complete: As charging is complete, the charging indicator is off and there is a
voice prompt saying charging completed. Then, please swipe the card for paying →
unplug the charging gun → put it back into the slot → complete the charging process;

Attentions:

1. If you need to complete the charge ahead of time, please swipe your card directly
according to step 4 to complete the charging operation.
2. In the event of an emergency during charging, such as abnormal sound, sparking,
power cord short circuit, etc., please press the emergency button to disconnect the
charging gun, and immediately contact with the site management;
3. When using a DC charger with two charging guns, pay attention to the choice of
guns. By default, the left one (the person stands facing the screen of the charger)
is the 1 # charging gun;

2.2 Brief Introduction of Major Components


 AC Input Circuit Breaker
Configure according to the power level capacity, to provide AC input over current and
short circuit protection for the whole system.

 AC Acquisition Board
Measure the AC input voltage; conduct sampling of AC input circuit breaker switching
value, lightning protector switching value and fuse switching value, and monitor status
of these protective devices in real time. Upload sampled data via 485 communication.

Prevent overvoltage on the line and lightning to protect the charging equipment.

 DC Charging Module
Provide power unit for electric vehicle charging, 15kW for single module, available in
two specifications of R75020G1 and R50030G1. Input voltage: 380V, three-phase
four-wire (L1, L2, L3, PE); output DC: 200V ~ 750V, 20A and 200V ~ 500V, 30A.

Allow for use of multi modules in parallel.


 Control Board
It is used for charging control and protection control. It includes 1 RS485
communication interface, 2 RS232 communication interfaces and 3 CAN
communication interfaces, which are respectively connected to AC acquisition board,
monitoring unit and CAN communication of vehicle BMS. In addition, it is able to
carry out voltage and current sampling, DC ground insulation testing, output and
protection control. Built-in software communication protocol matched with BMS of
electric vehicles is in line with GB/T 27930-2015.

 Billing and Settlement Unit


Collect the power, voltage and current parameters uploaded by a DC electric energy
meter for billing and settlement purpose. Conduct billing and settlement by reading the
information on card reader and electric parameters transmitted by the electric energy
meter.

 Monitoring Unit
The monitoring unit is composed of a billing and settlement unit and a display and
operation unit, wherein the billing and settlement unit collects the power, voltage and
current parameters uploaded by a DC electric energy meter and perform billing and
settlement by reading the information on card reader. The display unit provides a
user-machine interface to achieve local charging operation and management settings, and
provide remote communication control interface.

2.3 Operating Environment


 Ambient temperature is not lower than -20℃ and not higher than + 50℃. Storage
temperature of the equipment is allowed to be -40℃ ~ + 80℃.
 Maximum relative humidity of does not exceed 95% (ambient temperature is 25℃).
 Operating site is free of conductive dust, corrosive metals and gases or steams that can
break insulation.
 If there are special requirements, please put forward when ordering to ensure that the
product can operate reliably.

Chapter 3 HF DC Power Module Instructions


3.1 Module Description
The R75020G1 (R50030G1) DC Power Module is a high efficiency, high power density
AC-DC charging module that supports three-phase voltage input of 260V AC to 456V AC
and rated output of 750V (500V) DC with a rated output power of 15kW. The charging
module adopts CAN communication interfaces with isolated design, and communicates with
control board via CAN communication protocol. The control board can conduct voltage
regulating, current limiting and single module power on/off for the charging module.

Chapter 4 Charging Instructions


Operation precautions: Please operate the monitor screen with finger touch and
tap. Do not use sharp hard objects like screwdriver or card to touch the screen,
which may cause rupture of the LCD screen.

Operating Instructions for Charging Card


At present, there are three types of charging cards: user card, employee
card and administrator card. The user card is used by users to charge and
money will be deducted after each charging; the employee card is offered
to internal staff of the charging station and use is for free; the administrator
is mainly used for charger system parameter settings and charging
management.

Difference of card numbers is as follows:


The card number starting with 69 is the administrator card; the card number
starting with 68 is the employee card; the card number starting with 66 is
the user card.

Installation instructions for the matched secret key of a charging card:


There is a fixed slot on the card reader, used to install the matched secret
key of a charging card. Pay attention to that the key gap and the card reader
outlet silk screen gap shall be in the same direction. Please turn the power
off before installation.

4.1 Charging Operations


Step 1: Remove the charging gun from the charger, connect it to the
charging port of the electric car, and confirm the connection is
reliable; tap the monitor screen to enter the following main
information interface.

a) Tap (Charge by Battery Level) to enter the battery

level setting interface, and tap OK after setting is completed.

b) As countdown ends, it automatically enters the charging interface


which is same as that of auto charge mode.

Step 4: After charging is completed, attach the card to card reader to pay
and stop charging, and the interface will prompt relevant
information. In the case of manual operation, normal completion of
charging and charging stop caused by fault, following interface will
appear.

a) Diverter Settings: Set the diverter parameters. They have been set in the
factory, and therefore require no operations.

You can tap (Diverter Settings) to enter the diverter settings

interface, and set up parameters according to the current specifications


identified on the diverter. Repeatedly tap “Save”, and stop when the prompt
of “Send parameters succeeded” appears on the interface.

It is used for single unit commissioning purpose with EV not connected.
For normal charging, manual operation is not required.
Operation method: Repeat steps 1 and 2 in Section 4.2 to enter the system

It is a feature used for program update of monitor screen. Repeat steps 1

back of the monitor screen. The interface window parameters will be

5.3 Fault Checking Procedures and Handling Methods


5.3.1 Not charging, charger has faults:
1) Visually check if the yellow fault indicator of the charger lights up;
2) Enter main interface of the monitor screen, and check is there status
alarm indicated on the bottom left of the interface;
3) Enter the system management interface, tap to enter the query
interface and check the real-time faults.
4) Record charger model specifications, software version, run location
and number, the current operating environment, the fault
information.
5) Feed recorded fault information back to the factory after-sales service
dept. for analysis and handling.
6) For the common recoverable faults, it can be restored under the
manufacturer's instructions or according to the common
troubleshooting methods in the operation manual. For
non-recoverable faults, the manufacturer sends technicians to do
troubleshooting.
5.3.2 In charging, charger has faults:
1) For destructive faults, if there are explosion with smoke and other
device damage conditions, immediately press the emergency stop
button while disconnecting the input AC power supply. Record the
fault phenomenon, charging conditions, charger model specifications,
software version, run location and number, EV information, etc., and
submit to the manufacturer’s after-sales service dept. for analysis
and handling. The manufacturer will send technicians to do
maintenance. Do not power on before maintenance.
2) For non-destructive faults, that is, charging stops or it is unable to

charge, unplug the charging gun from the electric vehicle, and
handle according to steps 1 ~ 6 in Section 5.3.1.

5.4 Common Faults Handling Methods


1. System ground fault
a) Ground wire is not connected properly. When voltage difference
between ground wire and neutral wire measured using a multi-meter is
greater than 2V, check the ground connection. Confirm that the
connection is solid and eliminate the problem.
b) Power supply is faulty, and voltage difference between ground wire
and neutral wire is too high. Normal value shall be 1-2V. Measure the
voltage different using a multi-meter. If it is too high, and the on-site
power supply cannot be improved, consider to contact the manufacturer
to shield this protection.
c) AC input neutral wire and live wire of control board are reversely
connected. Check the line, and turn off the power to correct the line
connection. After power on, this failure can be cleared.
d) Control board detection circuit is damaged. For this fault, you need to
contact the manufacturer to replace.

2. AC input over and under voltage protection


a) Overvoltage or under-voltage occurs in mains supply. When the
mains supply voltage recovers, the fault can be cleared automatically.
Measure the AC input end of the charger with a multi-meter to check if
the voltage is abnormal.
b) Sampling voltage of the AC acquisition board is abnormal. Operate
the monitor screen to enter system management real-time data query
interface and check if the indicated voltage is normal.
If it is abnormal, turn the power off and check whether the sampling
line is disconnected or loose, and whether the acquisition board is

damaged. Recover the line in power-off state if it is disconnected or


loose; contact manufacturer to replace if the acquisition board is
damaged.

3. Circuit breaker tripped


a) The switching value sampling line is loose. Check if the switching
value of sampling line is normal in power-off state;
b) AC acquisition board circuit is damaged, and in energized state,
voltage of sampling interface to the common port is abnormal. The
normal value is about 4.5V ~ 5.5V. When this problem occurs, contact
the manufacturer to replace.
c) Over-current protection and short-circuit protection. In this case,
check whether the circuit breaker is damaged after power-off, whether
the back-end power supply line is short-circuited and whether the
charging module is normal. In case of damage, contact the manufacturer
for handling in a timely manner.

4. Lightning protection device tripped


a) The switching value sampling line is loose. Power off and check if
the switching value of sampling line is normal. Click to recover if the
line is confirmed to be normal;
b) Lightning protection module is not plugged in tightly. Power off and
re-plug it. The fault can be eliminated after doing this;
c) AC acquisition board circuit is damaged, and in energized state,
voltage of sampling interface to the common port is abnormal. The
normal value is about 4.5V ~ 5.5V. When this problem occurs, contact
the manufacturer to replace.

5. DC output over and under voltage protection


a) If the charging module is faulty, causing output voltage exceeds the
limit, enter the manual charging mode without plugging in the gun, to
check the charging module. For the faulty module, pull it out and

contact the manufacturer to handle.


b) Sampling circuit is damaged or un-calibrated, resulting in sampling
error. Contact the manufacturer to handle this problem;
c) EV BMS charging demand exceeds the maximum output voltage of
the charger. The charger will offer normal protection, without the need
to handle;
d) The protection limit point set for the monitor screen is too low. Reset
is required.

6. DC output over-current and short circuit


a) When the vehicle has a fault and causes a short circuit, press the
emergency stop switch, unplug the charging gun, check the short
circuit position after power off and contact the manufacturer;
b) Charger’s output switching device is damaged. Press the emergency
stop switch, unplug the charging gun, power off and check the short
circuit position, and contact the manufacturer;
c) Sampling is error. Check the line and control board, and repair. For
replacing, contact the manufacturer.

7. DC output fuse blown


a) It is over-current or short circuit that causes fuse blown. Turn the
power off and check using a multi-meter. Replace it if the problem is
confirmed;
b) Switching value sampling circuit is damaged. Contact the
manufacturer to replace;
c) Switching value sampling line is loose. Check if connection is
reliable to clear the fault.

8. Emergency stop fault


a) The emergency stop switch is pressed, or the switching value
sampling line is loose. Check the line for confirmation and repair.
b) Emergency stop switching value sampling circuit of the control

board is damaged. Contact the manufacturer to replace.

9. Gun lock status abnormal


a) The switching value sampling line is loose. Check the line, and
confirm the connection is reliable to clear the fault;
b) Power supply of gun lock is abnormal. Check if the supply voltage
is 12V. If it is less than 12V, contact the manufacturer to handle.
c) Charging gun cable is broken or gun lock is damaged. Contact the
manufacturer to replace.

10. DC output contactor is abnormal


a) Contactor fails. Turn the power off and check with a multi-meter if
two main contacts of the contactor two main contacts are disconnected.
If there are not disconnected, contact the manufacturer to replace;
b) Check if the emergency stop switch is pressed down. If it is, press it
again to restore;
c) Switching value sampling is abnormal. If the line is loose, restore
the line, and if the control board is damaged, contact the manufacturer
to replace.

11. System insulation failure


a) System insulation drops under good weather and low humidity.
Turn the power off and measure with a multi-meter if the resistance of
the DC line to ground is low. Contact the manufacturer to handle the
problem.
b) Electric vehicle insulation gets low. In charging process, BMS
reports insulation failure and causes charging stop. This problem is
not required to handle.
c) If the air humidity is too high (because of dampness or rain, etc.),
resulting in reduced insulation of the charger, the charging is not
allowed. Charge again till the air humidity gets lower.

12. Communication interruption


If the following communication faults occur: AC acquisition board
communication is abnormal, DC meter communication is abnormal, AC
meter communication is abnormal, charging module communication is
abnormal, and control board communication is abnormal, check whether
the communication lines are well connected and the lines are not changed
incorrectly.
If you cannot troubleshoot the line, contact the manufacturer.

13. Charging gun connection abnormal


a) The charging gun is not connected properly. Plug it in again.
b) In charging, CC1 ground signal voltage shall be 4V. Under a state
that charging gun is connected to EV and in standby mode, check if the
charge gun ground connection is normal and CC1 signal line is
disconnected. If such faults occur, contact the manufacturer to replace.

14. On-board BMS response timeout


Communication protocols between vehicle and charger do not match.
Feed it back to the manufacturer to handle.

15. Charge card no response


a) Card reader is damaged, without indication of power. Replace it;
b) The card is locked. Contact the manufacturer to unlock;
c) The line is loose. Check the line of card reader.

Attentions:

 Turn the power off before line check and tightening. It is a must for
safety.
 The charger has been well tested in the factory according to
standard. It is strictly forbidden to alter lines without permission.
