Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a
method/approach to account security that
provides an additional layer of security for
user accounts, apps and networks.

Importance of 2 FA

It helps in protecting you from unauthorized


user login into your account or taking control
over your account.

An effective way of detecting hackers and


keeping your account safe with an extra
layer of verification.

Example:
When you try to sign in for a Google
account/Email/Netbanking, if you use 2FA then
after your username/mail and password are
provided, Google/Bank will send an OTP to your
mobile phone number so that you can enter the
OTP into the system, Google/Bank will accept your
login.

Types of 2 FA Products:

SMS text or Voice Message.


Push Notification.
Authenticator Apps (From google,
Microsoft).
Hardware Tokens.
