Subject: Application under Right to Information Act, 2005 pertaining to the telecom
authorities’ recent developments
Respected Sir/Ma’am,

I, Namisha Sharma, D/O Sanjeev Sharma, resident of E-345 East of Kailash, New Delhi, am
writing this application in lieu of the provision given under The Right to Information Act,
2005. Under it, I request you to kindly provide me the information pertaining to the below
mentioned points.

1. A Joint Committee of regulators meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of the
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India to give directions for the joint action plan to curb
the endless spam and fraud using telecom resources. The meeting details have yet to be
published online, and the decision and implementation taken during the meeting were not
mentioned in the annual report.

2. In July 2018, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India issued rules which made it
mandatory for telecom service providers to take the subscriber's consent to receive UCC

from the telemarketers. There is no such implementation of such regulations, and the
authorities need to provide data as to what steps they undertook.
3. The acting chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India was part of a meeting
held on March 27 which was held to discuss ways in which there can be stopping of
pesky commercial calls. The details of the same session have not been published for the
public, nor has the authority published any guidelines for the same in the annual report.

4. 32% of mobile subscribers still need coverage despite paying for 4G and 5G. There is no
such record of the satellites installed in light of this issue in the annual report of the
telecom regulatory authority of India.

rupees only) towards application fee (receipt attached herewith) with DDO, NIC,
vide receipt no. 563572 dated 06.02.2023. Further, I also undertake to pay any
additional fees/charges, if applicable, as prescribed under the RTI Act or any other
relevant rules.
